Well the pubs in our village are open again

Just popped to our high street to get takeaway and the club and one of the bars are open. I assume serving "takeaway" only as folks are sitting at the tables outside.

I believe that under current guidelines, "takeaway" drinks can't be consumed on the premesis, even outside tables. My worry is that idiots will charge to the pub on that Saturday of re-opening thinking they will be back to normal. Worse down here in Derby as it's Derby v Forest at 12.30 that afternoon so no doubt some venues will have the game on.

The idiots will do what landlords permit. The irresponsibility isn't always on one side of the bar.

I'm interested in the aps proposed for ordering drinks.

A lot of older people don't have mobile phones with this facility. Also they probably only want to pay in cash.

Exactly.

People have this obsession with massive crowds gathering everywhere and then causing this covid apocalypse. Decent ran pubs and restaurants for the first week will only be allowing a certain amount of people in.

My place for example instead of serving food all day is only opening in split times for the first week to gauge public reaction and ease the business back into life. This could continue into a second and third week.
I'm only working 3 days out of 7 with the rest of my wage topped up by the government retention scheme.
No screens at the bar in our place as it's pointless added expense when we will only be offering table service for food and/or drink.

To be fair. If the landlord is selling drinks to takeaway. I can’t believe he doesn’t know the punters aren’t using the benches etc. Especially if they go back for another. If you are going to serve takeaway drink you need to enforce the rules.

One final point worth making on this is they were all drinking out of glasses. It was a clear breach of rules, and in a heavily legislated business. I can only assume the one police car we get daily will have been asked if it's OK.

I get that people want to get back to normal, but pubs should be right at the end of the queue for re-opening, and I say that as a pub user.

Is it just me who doesn’t ever go to pubs and couldn’t care less about the reopening? Obviously I don’t want to see good people go out of business but I find going to the pub completely boring!

Im not a lover of it either, hate watching football in pubs cos I like to hear the commentary and can concentrate better at home, I’m someone who actually likes to watch football rather than the social aspect of it. Only time I really enjoy pubs is if On a proper day out with mates or just a pub meal with our lass.

I used to go to the pub a lot as I live alone and it was good company . However now I’ve fallen back in love with my house and am not really bothered if I don’t go back .

I love pubs, and I love watching a match in them, but I think table service and only socially distanced seating completely ruins the feel of them.

It's a social venue.

Though I fully understand that it's just making the best of a bad situation to re-open in that style.
