Well it’s time to inspect the damage

My dad is the same about his fence. He is concerned people can walk straight into his garden. When I pointed out that the gate is never locked, it made no difference. Older people do sweat the smaller stuff.
They’re having WWIII over it about what needs to be done etc.

Just looking out of the window (!), I can see two fences down. Luckily ours are fairly new so ok. Bit of a flood in the hallway and the doormat is soaking. Looks like the front door needs resealing in the near future!

In the Welsh borders it was very windy too not quite a red alert storm though. Its just starting to calm down. It kept me awake @ 5am this morning plus a sore arm from yesterday's Covid Booster jab.

We had a greenhouse in the garden that looks to have blown away. It was just one of those with a plastic case and metal frame but it’s completely gone from the garden. It was weighed down with bricks.
Checked the neighbours gardens and the street but no sign of it!

One small fence panel down and a few planters blown over. Initial thoughts about it being a pain but then you think a couple of people have lost their lives because of the storm and it becomes unimportant. A minor expense and inconvenience.

He is 87 and it's a symptom for most old people I think. He is also complaining about the vent he had to have put in for the house insurance blowing a draft up his trouser leg. I did suggest he put the heating on. He said, I have the fire on (living flame, very 1980's) and I like watching it. I suggested he could keep the fire on and put the heating on.

You can spend some time soothng elderly parents fears.
My mam has some tiles loose, youd think her house had blown down overnight!

It's a symptom of getting older that you end up parenting your parent(s) 🙂

Both fences down either side. Just waiting for the neighbors to knock regarding sharing costs to sort it out...

You can get a cowl to fit over ventilation grilles. They allow ventilation but stop winds and draughts blowing in.

Sorry, that was me. I called round and nicked it as I’d been looking for one for a while. I dropped a brick on my toe and think Ive broken it, you’ll be hearing from my solicitor.
