Well if this doesn’t sum us up…

Have I missed something here? Overseas scout tells MFC to look at Kante. The club messages back to say ok. And?

This is an ancient story that has been repeated many times. However, I'm not sure what point you are making (seems I'm not the only one reading the above). I'm presuming you are suggesting the club has made and continues to make poor decisions in the transfer market over the years? (I'm guessing that's what you might be implying).

Every single club makes successful and poor transfer decisions, it is always a gamble and no one ever has a 100% success rate. However, to be honest with you I'd be more concerned about the internal working of my football club and their transfer strategy if they started allowing their decision making to be influenced by some randomer sounding off on twitter. I've always though it it was good of the club to even respond, they must get some right nutters sending them correspondence on a daily basis.

I don't think it actually holds up to proper scrutiny either.

He'd just signed for Caen in 2013, a few months before that tweet was made, they were promoted to Ligue 1 in his first season there.

We were a Championship side throughout that period.
We weren't going to sign him immediately after he'd signed for Caen, we weren't going to sign him when he'd just been promoted to a higher division.

He joined Premier League Leicester for £5.6m in 2015 and had other top flight interest.

At no point after that tweet was made does it seem likely that he'd join a second division side in England.

Well Jesus mate, it’s the first time I’ve seen it and I thought it was funny and worth sharing.

I shall repent to the lord almighty immediately and I’m deeply sorry for the offence caused.

No offence from me, I was merely expressing an opinion on what was posted. If you do happen to be speaking to the lord almighty though, it might be an idea to put in a request for a decent result on Saturday. Cheers.

I saw it on some sort of Football page on Facebook today so it's doing the rounds again. That wasn't a scout though. It was a bloke on holiday that watched a match in France and was impressed with one Kante.

I guess the point is that if a random bloke can see the potential in a player then why are professional scouts not doing the same.

We might have agreed and tried but failed to sign him for all we know though.

As I posted above, he'd literally just signed for Caen when that guy sent the tweet.

They then got promoted and were a Ligue 1 side for the next season, he was a key player for them throughout and he left them to join a Premier League side the year after.

We wouldn't have had a chance even if we had scouted him, and I suspect we probably did.
