Wednesday night.....

For the past few weeks I have really looked forward to the games. Looking to Wednesday I have feeling of worry. Our two forwards a less than useless. Tav has been very wasteful. Saville has looked disinterested. The bench is so weak,
Hope we start with Watmore, Robests and Johnson to give a bit of pace, Could not choose a forward, we need Fletcher back asap or a miracle in the January sales.

I'm not worried about Wednesday, although I'm much less confident than I have been. Swansea was a great result, and to go to Stoke, who I thought we would beat, and not only lose but by all accounts look out of sorts does worry me.

I have total faith in NW in this situation, and he see's the players train etc, knocks, form, fitness but I did think leaving out Watmore was a bit puzzling.

Anyway I hope you're worrying proves to be misplaced and we get back on track.

Really? A player who has hardly played for a year and has a horiffic injury record? There was no way Watmore was going to start at Stoke.

I thought we were a bit negative, but we clearly went with the aim of trying to nick a 1-0. Stoke have been playing well so its no disgrace to go there and get beat.

Anyway, Preston have a shocking home record and I full expect us to go there and get 3 points on Wednesday.

I would have started him, as he'll be on a high, but got him off after an hour. Different opinions, as I say NW watches them train, you might be right, who knows.

PNE are woeful at home. The fans are also mounting pressure on Alex Neil (although I rate him). I think they have a few injuries and a couple suspended.

I see it very much like the Blackburn game. Just playing them at the right time. We should have battered them.

That said the front 2 (used loosely) is a worry. I don't see Akpom very scoring as he doesn't get into positions to score. He 'tries hard' but I can't believe he was bought to play that role. Britt at least gets into positions to miss. It's the lesser of two evils😂.

The Jan transfer window seems to he all about widemen. I think (hope) maybe we are looking at a forward or two. We lose Britt and Fletcher for nowt next summer. We need to he looking at that area.

Tav plays because of his energy. I'd still play him ahead of Saville in that role.
I'm not saying he's great, or form hasn't dipped, but I'd still play him ahead of Saville who just thinks, moves and passes the ball far too slowly.
I was disappointed with Akpom at Stoke, but not enough to play the awful Assombolonga.
I'm hoping a number of others bounce back after saturday.
I'd like to see Watmore and Roberts both start and get after Preston.

Tav tries to hard, he needs to think of the next move rather than running himself raggered. But to honest who would you play instead.....NOT WING.

The strain is showing on our squad.
Roll on January when Boro can acquire someone up front who can knock in some of the easy chances we occasionally create, perhaps.

I wouldn’t play Tav out wide. As indeedido says I think him and Saville should be fighting for that midfield position. I will be happy to play Saville on Wednesday but would play Tav at home against Millwall and Luton as he is more forward thinking but I think Saville could be important on Wednesday

i Would go with this on Wednesday

Bettinelli

Spence
Fry
McNair
Bola

Howson
Morsy
Saville

Roberts
Assombalonga
Watmore

I don't know if Spence is good enough to play RB, and without Dijksteel I think it means we have to play 3-5-2. We might see Tav RWB again, although I'd like to see something like this...

......................Bettinelli

............McNair...Fry...Bola
Spence................................Coulson

......Howson...Morsy...Saville

...............Akpom...Britt

Johnson has been superb from the bench, I think we need to keep him for the impact.

Watmore could start instead of Britt or Akpom, but either way we need two up front if we are going to score goals.

Agree. Form has dipped up and down and weve started conceding a few recently. Go for it from the off, saville and akpom dropped

We do tend to bounce back after a bad result so there is that.

I don't mind Tav. I actually think he's come on a bit under Warnock. His work rate has massively improved.

That said we are nearly a 3rd of the season in and I'm guessing his goals and assists column is pretty much zero? His end product is very poor and just seems to take one touch to many. I have lost count the amount of shots he has blocked.... That can't just be unlucky?

That said we don't have much wiggle room for dropping or rotating. I would say a good 7 players will start every week as we don't have back ups at least 'as good'.

I think maybe Tav could do with a game out. He's pretty much played every minute. It may do him some good.
