'Sheffield Wednesday will receive an additional 6,000 tickets for Monday’s League One play-off final at Wembley.

The Owls face Barnsley under the arch in a bid to return to the Championship.

Our initial allocation of 36,634 seats was boosted by a further 1,355 on Wednesday afternoon shortly before we announced all tickets had been snapped up by Wednesdayites.

We are now pleased to announce that a further 6,000 tickets have been made available and will go on sale on Friday'.

Barnsley have sold 20k so far.
Presume that's why Wednesday got so many more.

From Barnsley FC
'Barnsley Football Club is disappointed to learn that the English Football League (EFL) has reallocated the total amount of tickets for the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final.

The EFL requested 6,000 of Barnsley FC's allocated tickets to be available to Sheffield Wednesday supporters in Tier 5 on Wednesday, which was opposed by the Club.

Whilst we acknowledge the reasons offered up in terms of the current sales totals of both clubs, the potential risk to our supporters was our main concern. However, the EFL are confident that the safety measures put in place are sufficient. '

Poor from Barnsley. If they were that bothered they could have bought the tickets and given em to those who couldn’t afford to go.

Similar with Sunderland last year when they played Wycombe. They clearly had a much higher potential sale than their opponents and ended up with 44000 I think. They actually asked for even more .. in the end that was the cap and there was 72,000 there in total. Still healthy from Wycombe really.
Thought Barnsley may have shifted more than 20,000 ( reckon Carlisle will take at least that many for league 2 game ).
Barnsley also were guilty of needlessly limiting Bolton to 2000 in that giant away end of theirs - due to the play offs allowing a 2000 cap on away fan numbers ( they could allow more but chose not to ) .

Also, in 2015 - I’m pretty sure we ended up with 40,000 , or just over as we got two lots of extra allocation IIRC.

Yes, we got over 40k in the end.
Look North mentioned Carlisle had sold 15k. Thought they would have shifted more given that they got over 15k for their playoff semi.
Still good going for a town of 75k.
