Even if we did, which to me is beyond the realms of reason, we’d be torn to shreds.

Let’s lower our expectations and cut our coats according to our cloth eh?
 
Of course we won’t, we are treading water, which is probably quite a wise thing to do until some semblance of normality returns and crowds are allowed back and seasons will definitely be finished. It’s impossible to rebuild and fund a promotion push under current circumstance.
 
Listen guys I don’t like saying this but here goes . Traditionally over our history we are an upper second tier club . We’ve been saturated in success during lengthy spells of our Boro supporting lifetimes . To me success was being proud of my club and by God I was .

I started going in 77 so it’s 65/35 for me of good v bad as we don’t do evens . I know older fans than me who call it 20/80 so I still count myself as fortunate .

like I say I don’t like saying it but we are back to our norm and with NW at least we’ll have players and a team that give everything and no Gestede’s ever again . Not least a chairman most fans the country over would kill for .

Hey looking around I’ll take this and accept it .

Totally understand where you are coming from and deep down, most fans will agree with a lot of what you say. Despite the differences people have at times on here, we all want and hope for the same thing, just like fans at other clubs do. I think the differences between fans on here is more to do with how some of us are looking at how and what we need to do, and taking a fans ‘forensic look‘ at things, versus the idea that fans should just go along to support and put the trust in the Chairman and the manager etc and hope for the best. We are all barrack-room lawyers at times, but with positive intent. Deep down we recognise reality. We are just trying to avoid the hope killing our passion in our own sweet way.
 
I feel after 96/97 I am immune to pain . In fact my emotions were so torn to pieces that all my receptors are dead - I have no feeling ! I’m just a punch drunk Boro fan I guess 🥴
 
I think if we manager to bring in 5 or 6 good players this month then we will have a chance at the playoffs.
