We are only....

This place lights up with over reactions after ever defeat. It’s like most posters are just not bothered unless they can complain about someone or something and in an over the top way. The season isn’t gone, anywhere near. People who thought we had a squad to challenge for the top two were deluded. It just wasn’t realistic. Were still a work in progress, if we get everyone fit on form and a fair run of decisions we will go n an 8 wins in 10 run. Then lose 3 in 4 and everyone will complain.

End of the day we will finish 5-10th
Also lights up with apologists who bend over backwards to try and explain why it's not as bad as it seems.

We have been beaten heavily at home again. 10 men or 11 men getting beat 0-3 off Coventry is not acceptable to me.

I’m not an “apologist”, I’m a realist. Someone has to bring balance to the loon brigade. We don’t have one of the top 2 or 3 squads. We will end up 5-10th. If it’s 10th maybe time for change 5th or 6th we stick with like cov have with robins

Think all of us are realists, I'm not happy with tbat projected finish I want to be pushing top 2. Sick of accepting mediocrity , getting beat heavily again at the Riverside under Carrick it's just not on.

You’re not a realist if you think we have one of the best two squads in the league 😂

Didn't say that but we should be pushing it. We certainly are in the top 4 or 5 without a doubt. We are not performing like that consistently

5th isn’t midtable, 10th is. I’ve already said 10th might mean time for change
5th and 6th may well disappear over the horizon before too long is the worry. Hopefully I’m wrong and we go on a run but there is nothing to suggest we will do far this season.

If we had stayed 11 on the pitch we would have had good spells and maybe with those players on the pitch we would have scored. Who knows.
We had the advantage of playing against 10 last week though Mart, and a penalty in our favour. How did that go for us?

The team is mentally weak under any sort of pressure, and the bench seem to be unwilling or unable to do anything tactically to help us out when the pretty possession stuff isn't working.

As we have been pretty much since we lost Akpom and Archer.

there is a lot of over reaction after a loss. A lot of the frustration is understandable, but that is all it is. I mean, we are above Coventry still. The championship is a mad league and we are just a consistent run, probably away from top 2. A lot of other teams are in the same boat though. I get the frustration though. I honestly thought we had a well rounded squad that had the ability to be consistent and be in and around the top 6 all season. Drifting among the nearly teams was not how I saw it panning out but it seems as though that is the case. we are very good away from home but at home it is just too predictable. Cov had plenty of men in the box and got the ball in quickly and took their chances and also had 2 disallowed. We seem to have to try and score the perfect goal every time by setting up outside their box and finding killer passes into tight spaces. i see no evidence of us being able to do that consistently at present.

I agree with the majority of what your analysis is, But, are we meant to say that's all fine and we crack on?

To say it's over reaction after a loss is a bit unfair.

It's happend consistently pretty much all season carrying over from huge chunks of last season, and Carrick seems unwilling or unable to find a formation or style of play to see us threatening the upper play-off positions. Other managers with far inferior resources have and are doing significantly better.

If we're 13th on boxing Day and still playing the same would any over reaction be justified then?

I said it when we beat Sheff Utd I won’t get carried away with a good win, and I won’t get carried away by a bad loss.

The ref decision dictated the result. Hackney probably should have stayed on
His feet and succeeded possession in hindsight but there’s not a lot to take out of this game
That’s mostly fair comment, except that the logic of your observation is that it was Hackney’s decision not to do what you correctly suggest he should have done that dictated the result. So it was still, in the end, a footballing error by a Boro player. Just as it is when we create a lot of chances, but then miss them, or let a soft equaliser in having missed a penalty in a game we should have won easily. We do need to accept that this is bad execution not bad luck.

None of that really changes the tone of what’s being said. Players make mistakes. We were unable to accommodate the result of this one. We’re still in contention. The performance doesn’t need to improve by much to improve the delivery. But it does need to improve.

It may not, it probably won’t

It’s the vehemence of the response that’s the issue. It’s disproportionate to being 3 points outside the play offs. You’d think we were bottom 3 ffs

We had massive injuries last year, decimated with an average of 8 players missing. This season it’s not quite been as bad, but it’s still above normal levels, and we’re 12 games in

They started well, and we didn’t. But the game wouldn’t have continued like that. The ref ruined it, was never a second yellow.
It wasn't even a free kick years ago. However, in the modern game you know if you follow through like that after winning the ball then it's a booking. I'm not saying I agree with it. Daft from Hackney given the fact he'd not long had the first booking. Carrick said himself he had no complaints with the sending off.

It does exactly the same after a win though. We beat Sheff Utd and half of this board was saying ‘WHERE ARE THE CARRICK OUT BRIGADE NOW?!’

It’s not one sided.

Over reaction is probably an incorrect term. The day after always feels less raw. We are all wanting that consistency which is definitely alluding us. We might not get it either but there is evidence that we can be a good team. I think on occasions we do actually look like the best team in the league. Carrick has to take some responsibility for that and also credit. I am sure he is not telling the players to start so slowly and at times seem so insipid at home yet seem so good away. Thats a conundrum he has to work out. If we are 13th on boxing day and further away from the top 6 I think the natives will have turned. Certainly around me there are a few negative comments starting which is fair enough. People expected more and I get it. I have become less expectant as the season has gone on and my personality can deal with that disappointment. I agree that Carrick does have to find the solution to our home performances though and hope he can. Change is not always for the better, especially when you are getting some very good performances mingled with the poor ones.
