I agree it's more disappointing than a disaster. You would think hearing that he's a 'top bloke' etc that he would sign. That said you don't know what his agents been up to.
He also lives in the North East so you'd think a no brainer.
You can see why we maybe hesitant with wages and contact length. We shouldn't forget he's been injured for nearly 2 and a half years. The last thing we want is a 2-3 year deal on 10-20k a week and he gets crocked.
The best deal for us is clearly a contract until the summer. Then add on a contact extension (possible pay rise) if he remains fit. That's clearly not the best deal for him.
I guess if Norwich or whoever offer more money and longer contract then you can't hammer him for it. He's 26 and maybe one of his last decent contracts.
I hope he signs. He's been a breath of fresh air and given us something different. I would argue his form did for Roberts. That said I don't want us held to ransom or commiting to something that may backfire.
It does seem to have gone on longer than expected. I am sure 4 goals has seen his agents demands shift.
I think it will be interesting to see if he's included tomorrow evening. He was a none playing sub at Brum. If he doesn't figure at all tomorrow it could be a telling 'sign'.
