Warnock on Britt .. Brutal Honesty ..

You don't hear this type of stuff from modern managers - but you have to think it's part of his mind games with players ..

When Britt’s head is right he’s as good as anything in the league and when it’s not right he’s a very mediocre player.

What would be a fair or realistic contract offer?

He's worth less to the squad than Fletcher and about the same as Akpom on this seasons showing.

If I was the club I'd offer him a maximum of £10k-£12k to recognise his squad role as rotating with the other two, just to try and protect his value.

If it was me, I'd offer to ring him a taxi.

Give him a 4 year contract on £0 per week and he will have still earned an average of £20k per week over an 8 year period. Still well above what he is worth

You would expect a talented footballer to at least show glimpses of that talent, the very best show it consistently. I've seen nothing in Assombalonga to suggest he's got any talent at all.

I agree with Caesium - pick your club Britt and I will personally drive you there.

It may just be playing the game to try and get an offer in for him this month, or maintain his performance level?

But I am concerned it seems to have been mentioned a few times by Warnock/Club about offering him a new contract?

Read the article though - he says about how any player (and agent) coming to the end of his contract has to be realistic - they won't get the same deal again. If Britt could finish on double figures this season then that is what I am most interested in at this point.

Im sure he is on a good contract currently, and will be holding out for it to be matched.

I think realistically on a free someone would take a punt and offer him good terms I think. He and his agent probably feel they have nothing to lose holding out.

I take it you didnt watch the match on Wednesday night?

I still would say he was worth what we are currently paying him, but if he played like that every week he would certainly be considered an asset to the club.

To be fair to Britt - he's a 1 in 3 striker for us (45 goals in 144 apps) .. should you expect more from a £15m striker? Definitely .. but .. he's not cut out for playing up front by himself and probably could do with playing off somebody rather than being the main focal point.

Maybe - but his agent will surely not get anything like the terms he is on now anywhere. I don't think anyone below Premier level can afford to pay even half of what he is now on - look at Gestede and Shotton. Maybe not even the teams that get relegated.

I think having Watmore and Tav making runs off him is a help to him and will get him more goals - hope those 3 keep getting played.
Tavernier is looking better every game he plays and it's only a matter of time before he leaves us for the Prem.

Maybe not. But I think Britt is a level above Shotton and Gestede on his day and teams often panic and throw money at that potential. I guess it all boils down to what we are offering versus the market.
