Warnock on Britt .. Brutal Honesty ..

What would be a fair or realistic contract offer?

He's worth less to the squad than Fletcher and about the same as Akpom on this seasons showing.

If I was the club I'd offer him a maximum of £10k-£12k to recognise his squad role as rotating with the other two, just to try and protect his value.

If it was me, I'd offer to ring him a taxi.
I think akpom has done more overall, creates more for others players

I take it you didnt watch the match on Wednesday night?

I still would say he was worth what we are currently paying him, but if he played like that every week he would certainly be considered an asset to the club.
I did watch the match, one game where he was decent out of 30 + games a season isn't justification for his salary or a reason to keep him. Good players are consistent.

I hope to have to console myself when Assombolonga chooses a contract somewhere else in July.
He did play well on wednesday night, but four years in it just doesn't happen nearly often enough.

Jonny;s response was to estonboy whu su=iad he has no talent at all, clearly not true given he was pivotal in our win on Wednesday night.
Howson was pivotal to our win on Wednesday. Clearly it's a matter of differing opinions. Some people see more in Britt than I do, and that's fine

Britt isn't clinical enough, look at his 1 on 1's, hopeless.
Good striker on his day but his day's aren't often enough.
That's why he's a Championship striker.. just like Boro is a Championship club. Given the financial reality facing football we will struggle to get better than him in the Summer.

Warnock is absolutely right about BA, if he could play to his maximum every week he'd be a very good forward. He's on a contract that simply isn't sustainable here, even putting aside the current cash crisis in football.

I expect he will see what other clubs are prepared to offer and that will most likely to be more than we can afford, or at least prepared to pay.

The fact we paid about £16m for him, in addition to an eye-watering contract, is astounding really and it will be this fact that rankles the most about him if he does move on.

Whatever happens the whole deal equates to very poor value for money and a massive misjudgement by the club.

I don't think anyone would disagree with the fact he doesn't do it often enough, but he was very good on Wednesday night, Scored one, hit the woodwork (that might have been a comedy own goal) and helped set up the second. He was definately pivotal in a very good overall team performance.

To be fair to the club, he looked like he was on an upward trajectory and most of us were quite happy with buying him. He just seems a bit ... dunno, unproffessional too often.

Good point Fair, doesn't excuse the lacklustre performances more generally though.

It would be great if having Watmore and Tav either side played to his strengths and he turned into the kind of striker we thought he would be.

He's the epitome of inconsistent and yes, it's easy to judge with the benefit of hindsight.

I suspect the club won't be spending that type of money for quite some time, if ever, its too much of a risk.
