Warnock - is there a risk....

I just don’t want us to fill the squad with a load of land of the giants clones that force us to play a certain way that may not suit his successor.
None of the players he's brought in so far have been like that. To be honest I think we could do with getting a bit more height in the team. He signed a bunch of wingers in January. He's not Pulis or Strachan.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink? Is that who people mean when they’re saying Jimmy? As in they want him to be our next manager?

Great player, but I’m sorry he should be nowhere near our list of next managerial targets. Certainly not now, and it would take something pretty special for him to be even be under consideration in a year or twos time!

JFH - 38 points from 18 games , the best record in the league , 3-0 hammering of a decent Donny side .

Can’t agree with this 3 year plan theory. We still have a lot of deadwood to move on. With the exception of Kebano the other loans have been generally underwhelming. You could argue we have and are going backwards since the start of the New Year.

we will need 8, 9 , 10 players coming in. Such wholesale changes and it is hard to imagine this was part of a 3 year strategy
What players did we bring in the season we got promoted under Karanka?

FW Jordan Rhodes Blackburn Rovers £10m
MF Stewart Downing West Ham United £5,5m
FW David Nugent Leicester City £4m
FW Cristian Stuani Espanyol £3,6m
MF Carlos de Pena Nacional £3m
MF Julien De Sart Standard Liège £2m
DF Alex Baptiste Bolton Wanderers Free

7 Players right of the top of my head without thinking about it. Was that not part of a three year plan?

not forgetting we brought in 9 loan players that season.. also not part of the plan?

GK Michael Agazzi Milan
DF Tomáš Kalas Chelsea
DF Jack Stephens Southampton
DF Ritchie De Laet Leicester City
DF Fernando Amorebieta Fulham
MF Bruno Zuculini Manchester City
MF Diego Fabbrini Watford
MF Gastón Ramírez Southampton
FW Kike Sola Athletic Bilbao

we didn't have any players leaving? try 18 (some were loans granted, but the point remains.)

MF Lee Tomlin
MF Mustapha Carayol
MF Dean Whitehead
MF Emmanuel Ledesma
MF Adam Reach
FW Kike
FW Luke Williams
DF James Husband
DF Seb Hines
DF David Atkinson
DF Kieron Weledji
MF Ryan Brobbel
MF James Warnett
GK Connor Ripley
DF Jonny Burn
MF Bryn Morris
DF Brad Halliday
DF Adam Jackson

Looking forward to year three!!

If he can bring in his first choices it will be fine. I can remember people turning their noses up at Kieffer Moore last summer and he's got 16 goals this season.

I also don't for one minute believe that Akpom was his first choice.

Hopefully we will keep Mendez-Laing. With a full pre-season he could be a real asset for us.

I think questions need to be asked about Ian Bennett's role as goalkeeper coach. Bettinelli looked decent at the start of the season, now he looks every bit the Sunday league player.
To be honest, I don't think many people turned their noses up at Moore. It was pretty obvious he was exactly what we needed.

Terrible recruiting except for Stuanni , and even then we didn't get the best out of him . Don't you think Newy ? Gaston was class , but trouble .

He’s done really well, no denying that. Doncaster have gone backwards since Darren Moore left. I still wouldn’t have him at Boro though. Maybe if Burton romp the league next season then there’d be a few clubs after him. He hasn’t done very well at most other clubs he’s managed though.

We got promoted and pretty much got our money back.. doesn’t get much better than that.

I quite liked David Nugent at least he tried

I’d have him now in a heartbeat
I think we’d be doing well if we managed to bring in in this seasons equivalent of:

FW Jordan Rhodes
MF Stewart Downing
FW David Nugent
FW Cristian Stuani
MF Carlos de Pena
MF Julien De Sart
DF Alex Baptiste

2015 Nugent & Stusni to replace 2021 Assombalonga & Fletcher. Let’s not do forget how good those players were and how they positively influenced the team to an automatic promotion place.

This won't be popular but our sole problem at the moment and it has been since Karanka is short termism. We have stopped giving managers time.

Any decent coach if given time to build the squad he wants, not unlimited funds, will succeed.

You can't change 6 first team members and expect instant success. It doesn't work and has never worked. Look at any coach that has stayed at a club long term, then compare their success with what followed. It's nailed on that the new coach struggled and was probably bombed out fairly quickly.

Any coach that knows the job and I mean any, will be a success if he gets the time and reasonable resources and support.

That’s not true though as though as look as Watford and Chelsea they don’t come more short termite than then and both had success with their model.

That's not quite what I said zorro. I didn't say short term appointments don't work I am saying they are less likely to work where going long term almost certainly brings more success. The manager doesn't even have to be spectacular
