Warnock's 1,601st game, equalling Dario Gradi’s record for the most matches as a manager in English football history.

Neil Warnock’s career as a league manager began on August 15, 1987 on a momentous occasion — his Scarborough team’s first ever league appearance — but the landmark fixture he faces this weekend will revolve around him alone. Middlesbrough’s meeting with Birmingham City will be his 1,601st game, equalling Dario Gradi’s record for the most matches as a manager in English football history.

The 72-year-old’s 1600th appearance as a league manager in all competitions featured Middlesbrough, his 14th league club, beating Cardiff City, his 13th club, at the weekend to climb into the Sky Bet Championship play-off places. All being well he will move beyond Gradi’s figure when his side play away to Luton Town next Tuesday.

Only three FA Cup quarter-finals over more than three decades.
Must admit I got the feeling he wasn't too bothered about us dropping out of the Cups.
Given the state of our squad at the moment he probably made the right call.
Hope our lads are getting some rest this week ready to go again on Saturday.

1387 games in the League
(top tier 154, second tier 892, third tier 211, fourth tier 130)

Top three for most league games only are Everiss 1406, Warnock 1387 and Gradi 1362.

Agree that text formatting was a bit off -s orry for that.
This is just how it carried through when I cut and pasted it as I know the Times is behind a paywall
I was just excited to post this info here as I think it's a significant milestone event that should be celebrated.

So he's virtually guaranteed to set the record for all competitions, hopefully he does well enough that he breaks the record for league matches too.

It's an achievement alright.

Only 19 games to go if those numbers are right.

Whatever your opinion of Warnock it's an unbelievable achievement.
It sounds like some of the figures weren't known until recently?
"In recent times Warnock’s total of games has been widely understated, with some cup games mistakenly left out, notably in the Football League Trophy before the mid-1990s."
Hopefully if the figures are correct our Manager's achievement should be noted and celebrated in some way on Saturday?

If you include his time at non-league he's managed more games than any other manager in football history with the exception of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Though he's a distance second to SAF.
