Warnock: best Boro manager for a Generation

I’m convinced he is better than SMAC. I realize SMAC got us our big one and a European final but SMAC had unbelievable funds.
SMAC couldn’t do what NW done when we were deep in the do do on the restart after lockdown and now having us all believing again as we watch our players grow steadily in confidence, strength of mind & belief in each other.
👍👍

Yep. Agree with this! He brings much more to the table than just a team selection. He understands the Psyche of the players and knows how to get the best out of them (I can't remember this since the Rioch era), He knows how to unearth good players at realistic prices but most of all - he instills confidence throughout the club and the fans

He's definitely the right man at the right time. He came into a fragile squad that couldn't defend and had many big earners leaving. I simply thought it was a no brainer as we were down under woody.

He galvanised them in a pretty short time last season. He bombed out who he didn't fancy and Brought some in from the cold (Johnson / Dijksteel).

The thing that impressed me most was how quickly he identified how bad we were (by his own admission he didn't expect it). He was stunned by the lack of leaders (or defenders) and quickly highlighted a new recruitment model and whole change around the club.

This season we look so much better with only 4-5 sigings. He identified the spine and strengthen it. It's just a shame that covid has restricted his spending as 2-3 more players would make such a difference.

It's not just him. I think the wealth of experience that Blackwell and Jepson bring helps👍

Yep very good post, we are so lucky to have him, Rotherham looking doomed & he saved them, including a last minute win against Karankas Boro, Cardiff 2nd bottom when he took over & us almost certainly heading in one direction, he came in, steadied the shop, kept us up, transformed the whole team when individual players are playing exceptionally well, who knows what this season will turn out but looking at the final whistle team group after defeating Bristol City then anything is possible with each & every player putting in that little bit more for Neil, so glad he's here

So far so good, agree with that and I'm sure the majority of people do too, but theres a long way to go before he could be called the best in a generation!

Yep. Think he's done brilliantly so far and his record at championship level speaks for itself. I think tactically he's good at what he does but it's fairly direct and is based around reducing unforced errors by clearing your lines etc. Nothing wrong with that, but it's maybe partially why he's never cracked the premier league. There is a lot to be said for not overcomplicating things though as we're seeing.

As a man manager probably about as good as it gets.

After Woody and pals its just nice to have confidence that the manager and coaching staff know what they're doing. They've almost certainly seen it all before.

Delighted to have him in charge. Wish we would've got him years ago to be honest. I love his honesty in his interviews and his passion on the touchline is infectious. Christ he's even making Saville look half decent! The blokes a genius! If you're reading this Neil, keep up the good work and I'm sure we're all looking forward to finally giving you a big belated Riverside welcome. Whenever that may be ! UTB.

Really is the Master of this division. Getting in a striker who can score goals would be the final piece of the jigsaw. The irony is Gibbo has backed inferior managers who talk the talk. Warnock walks the walk. Truest is- I’ve said before- right man wrong time....

He’s got to achieve something before being placed upon this mighty pedestal.

I do like him but even he would agree without winning, without success, it means very little in football.

It's been a helluva long time since a manager has galvanised both the players and the supporters in such a short space of time. Like someone said above, wish he'd've been brought in when Karanka was sacked. Who knows what might have happened but there's a good chance we may still be in the prem!

And yes, I love the bloke!

Like RH says very good so far but its early days. He also done well so far on a relatively small budget like Rioch in 1986/7.

If he got us promoted this season I would put it down the best ever managerial achievement at the Boro since Big Jack in 1973/4 and give NW legendary status.

He's definitely pulling up the undergrowth in the early going, the trees are on the horizon and we'll see when we are 2/3 through the season whether he's the messiah, but I do like his work so far
