Want to buy a new away top from the club shop?

In fact I’m trying to think of one product in the modern world that takes three months to buy that isn’t a Boro away shirt, and I’ve got as far as “handmade and hand-stitched leather bag if you rear the cow from birth”

If you provide me a link where to purchase i'm happy to take a punt on the bag if someone purchases a third shirt and we can see which arrives first as an experiment.

If you're not gonna have shirts sold in all sports shops, and your not gonna have a club shop in town.. then your online game has to be top notch. That would include. BEING ABLE TO ORDER A FUGGING SHIRT OVER THE INTERNET

that's without getting into the mad sizes.
what's the crack with the late release aswell if you're gonna do the minimum order thing?

is this low key encouraging fake shirts from gibbo?

is this actually genius from steve gibson here?

making a market for fake boro shirts.. making them rare and must have shirts mean the fake shirt companies make a shed load of boro shirts.. then you start to see more and more when you go abroad.. because the demand is so high.. free advertising, free marketing.. opening up worldwide markets.. WOWZA! No Logo 101

£13 including postage with optional free name and number on the back and delivered within 7-10 days. Am i taking money away from MFC ... not really as i wouldn't pay £55 for said product shown

Infact ive not bought a replica shirt since they went over £40 i used to wait until the Feb sale and buy both shirts at 50% off which doesnt happen anymore

My facebook timeline has been flooded with cheap replica shirt sites in the last week or so (albeit premier league teams) for £13-20

Where did you get that from?

Imho the Club need to consider keeping our kits for two seasons on the trot - perhaps changing the 3rd strip if they really have to.

More incentive for people to buy especially when they have supply problems every season without fail - e.g. if I can't get hold of one before Xmas I think 'what's the point...', while being fairer to fans overall.

They don't care about fairness. They would sell fewer by keeping the same shirt for two seasons. Once everyone has got one the first season they'd barely sell any the following.

The solution is very simple. Order more stock. It's desperately amateurish to have the same problem every time. I'm not sure they have realised there is a difference between tickets and shirts and they just think a sell-out is an achievement.

The dangerous thing for the club is that people who would normally not consider counterfeit shirts are looking to those websites due to the lack of availability. Lads I know would rather the money go to the club but when they can’t get them and the kids are asking, it’s an attractive alternative.

Granted, some people are going to use the Chinese site regardless of availability. But the club shouldn’t be forcing those willing to purchase official shirts direct with the club down that avenue due to stock issues.

This is the problem the club will have further down the line, people who would otherwise never consider buying counterfeit kits are now buying them as there is literally no other alternative than waiting months.

When the kit turns up and they realise the quality is almost identical for a fraction of the price, what incentive is there for them to go back to buying official shirts next season other than it's going into the money going into the club's coffers? Which let's be honest most people won't care about if they're saving £40 a shot.

MFC's commercial strategy is playing into the hands of the counterfeiters.

My other big gripe with the club shop is how poor the quality of everything is. I don't mind paying a premium price for a premium product but stocking the shop with Primark standard gear with a Boro badge on and charging Selfridges prices is just a grift. I buy merch from events I have been to like the NFL or the Golf and it's not cheap but it is high quality so I refuse to pay the prices they are charging for their cheap tat in the club shop. I know other clubs do it and I would expect to pay a premium for a licensed product but the difference between the price and the quality is far too big.

I quite like the look of the walk-out jackets but they want £65 plus delivery. A quick Google shows that Errea sell jackets via other retailers without a Boro badge on for less than half what the club are charging and they are about the right price point for the quality.

Does anyone know how many shirts the club sell per year on average? Wonder what the actual economics look like. The merchanise companies I have dealt with over the last 3 decades often have a very poor understanding of pricing and supply/demand strategies; I doubt the club have any more idea.

I know someone who may have bought the home AND away tops of a very popular local club, (lets call them Middleburg) from a far east provider for a combined total of £25 inc P&P.
Arrived "he" tells me within 20 days of purchasing.
When he did a side by side comparison with a friends store bought version both were stunned to find the cheaper garments were actually of higher quality than the store bought version...

Does anyone like the home shirt? - I bought one from the club shop last week.
I will check up on when away shirts will return. I know it is not like last season there is definitely another large order on the way.

The club have put a statement saying no new stock until September.

You need to stop believing the rubbish the club keep fobbing you off with Rob, its a shambles.

A large order? what is a large order for the club 20, 100, 500, 1000, 5000?? we should have had a large order the first time round but here we are 1st game of the season and we have run out of stock.

It was said in that Q&A thread that there was ‘unprecedented demand’ for shirts last season. There is never any information or stats given on what ‘unprecedented demand’ actually means though.

I find it very difficult to believe they’re selling more shirts now than they did when we moved to the Riverside and then signed Juninho, Emerson and Rav. The summer we bought Merson and went up it felt like everyone on Teesside was wearing a Boro shirt. Then when we were in Europe. And then when Aitor was here, the shirts in 14/15 and 15/16 were absolutely everywhere as well.

Is there any context on what this ‘unprecedented demand’ actually is?

But how can they be caught out again? It doesn’t make sense to me. How can any football club have no shirts to sell two days before the season starts. It’s absolutely crackers. I’ve worked in fashion and/or fashion retail for years and years and never known anything like it tbh.

Same here Viv. I have worked in fashion retail and dealing with stock levels for 15 years, I just can't get my head around it.

I love to see the figures behind it all all the soundbites they send out. I doubt we have historical sales figures going back very far hence the "unprecedented" comments we keep getting.

I have still never received my home shirt I ordered yet! Must be lost somewhere over the Atlantic...:cautious:

I get them from a Chinese site every season now. I've given up with the club shop it's a complete shambles. It's ran like they can't be bothered so I can't be bothered giving them my money. The shirts are better quality than from the club shop. My kids can get the full kit with names and numbers on the back for around £13 including delivery. Boro are charging around half that price just for the postage!
