That is the sort of point you should make to them when trying to negotiate a discount. It makes me so angry that customers have to do this.

They are thinking of changing the rules to make it impossible for these companies to do this sort of change mid-contract (someone posted a link on the other thread a few days ago), but it seems like they can do what they want at the moment.

I originally paid £29 for broadband only in the first year of contract it then went up to £37.
They notified me recently it was going up to £44 I phone to complain they initially offered a £1 discount which was an insult.
I then said I want to cancel they then put me through to a different department.
Then then said I can keep my original contract and put my bill down to £30 a month happy days so it just goes to show it’s worth complaining.

Almost every provider has a contract stipulation that says prices will rise by something like inflation + 3.9% so massive rises this year

Virgin don't so you can get out of your contract for free, but they're adding it in as a term going forward

Depends what you want to achieve - is it just broadband or tv? Price up what you can get elsewhere

If you're in Stockton and can get youfibre, you'll get 3 months free and I can refer you to get an extra 2 months on top. If not in Stockton look at uswitch and compare what is available in your area, at what cost, and check cashback sites

When you ring ask to speak to cancellations team, don't deal direct with customer services

Mines only gone up £5 but my email said I could cancel by 31st March if I wanted, no penalties.

Unfortunately they are the only fibre broadband in the area (at present) and have me right by the bollox - work from home so need min 100mb. So I'm planning to phone Retentions (NOT Customer Service) and see what they have to say.

My broadband is going up 27%. Thank God my wages will be increased by a similar number.....maybe 2.7%.

Sky have put mine up 10% the b6stards. When my deal is up in November they can f-right off, the price was already high for what we have. The Mrs signed up to an 18month deal last Easter without checking with me first, I’d planned to sack them off then. 🤦‍♂️

I read that they are extra sneaky about it because everyone is on a "deal" so if you are paying £50pm that is only with a discount and the real cost is £100pm. They are applying the inflation to the full value and keeping the discount the same so your £50pm becomes £65pm because they are inflating the £100 by 15% to £115 and keeping your £50 discount fixed.
