It depends on how things are set up in each game. It can cause Nat type moderate even with opened ports in some games, and cause communication issues apparently. Dynamic dns services don't work either, but I needed it anyway for my media server.What fragrance said....

I've been doing a load of gaming (CoD) and not had any issues not having a static ip address. One thing I have had to do is to open a port for my laptop each time I connect as I connect using a company VPN - which wont connect without a designated port. No drama though.
I use a personal VPN when watching *cough footie on a saturday afternoon. This is just an app on my firestick or chromebook.
