Virgin media contract coming to an end

For phone line, Medium level TV and Internet I am currently paying £49 per month. If I stay with VM it goes up to £69 Per Month.
Any recommendations please? . I live in Eaglescliffe
Is NOW broadband OK
 
I ditched VM at the end of my contract. It had risen to £60 p/m for broadband. I switched to Vodaphone on a lesser package for £23 p/m, but as far as broadband goes I don't see a difference. I can stream, download, play online just as good as what it was on VM.
 
Always depends what you use it for. Vodafone is really decent price wise and quality wise if you can get on their network rather than the BT network.

In our house we have 350meg on VM (still on staff discount so pay next to nout) and we'd notice it if we changed, because housemates an intense gamer and I stream 90% of what I watch.
 
I was paying £81 per month for full tv package plus BT sport and 200m broadband, phoned up in March to cancel TV, everything went off on Good Friday, phoned them up to explain, they said they would turn on broadband for £47 per month, so today I find out £155 has been taken out of my bank, i called them today and I wait for an hour to get through, understandable, apparently the guy I spoke to on good Friday reinstated everything then to be told as a good will gesture they will reimburse the difference between broadband price and full price, good will? Ya cheeky cnuts, it’s your mistake not mine, and then he says I’m in another 12 month contract. 😡😡
 
I was in the same boat, end of contract, bill going up to a point that I wasn't comfortable with. I had been with them so long that I had a ntlworld email address but it counts for nothing.
I couldn't be bothered with the annual end of contract fan dance so I rang them to tell them I didn't like the new price and that I was leaving. Ok they said.
I kept the broadband but reduced it from 100mbs to 50 mbs. I bought my wife a Humax Freeveiw box with 500GB storage. I bought myself an Nvidia Shield. We have a Now Tv account for movies.
She is more than happy with digital tv, her recordings and Now Tv. I stream everything I'm watching and am more than happy. The problem will arise once sport restarts but I suspect you know the solution to that.
 
I checked a couple of days ago and PlusNet is about £24/month that covers your fixed line phone and broadband. Sky with full sports and entertainment package is around £28/month. Together that's £52/month. It does not cover the Movie package, but you can get Netflix from £6/month which has masses of stuff to watch.
 
Ring cancellations in Virgin Media. At first you get a call centre in India and get about a pound off. Insist on cancelling and you get put through to Retentions at the Preston farm office. They are more than helpful and know you are ringing for a decent discount. Not sure how you stand with them being open in the current climate though ?

I’ve had to call them a few times over last 2 months and on each occasion got through to the call centre in Scotland.

All been put on faults for the time being.
 
Thanks people. I think I have found a decent deal with Vodaphone, £23 pm including landline and 63mps on BB, seems OK to me. Not too bothered about the tv as me and Mrs T don't watch too much of it anyway and the kids use Rakuten for what they want. All I need to do is cancel VM. (By the way, they sneaked another £8 on the bill this month for no change at all.)
 
They are good at sneaking a few extra quid on every few months. The problem i have is there are 4 of us in the house including 2 kids who are on it most of the time. I have the 200Mb broadband and no other company come anywhere near that and its not worth the earache if i leave.
