Vinnie Jones on Piers Morgan's Life Stories

Enjoying this so far. I really warmed to him after he was a guest speaker with Gazza at the Middlesbrough Theatre. You can tell he still isn't over the death of his wife.

It’s not suitable for TV in my opinion. Morgan is not a therapist and I don’t understand what Vinnie could possibly gain from being so exposed apart from more tabloid News Of the World pseudo fame.

A bit sad and exploitative I thought

I think you missed the reality, they are really good friends.

It's good to see somebody known for being a 'hard man' speak openly about his mental health, as there's still so much stigma around mental health, we know men tend to bottle things up and see it as a sign of weakness.

Maybe so, but that’s my view, perhaps they both gained from it, I am sympathetic to Vinnie, but felt he shouldn’t have exposed himself for public viewing

Whose to say what’s good for him and what isn’t. How would you know unless you’ve lost someone like that (if you have I stand corrected). I don’t suppose there are any rules for dealing with trauma like that. It’s whatever works for the individual.
Anything that highlights mental health or mental ill health can only be a good thing.

He did it because he wanted to, not because he was exploited. I admire his openness. Most people can be too insular at times, Vinnie has my full respect. Top man, he still owes me a pint mind 😂 👍

I think it could well be a good thing for 'hard' men to see Vinnie going through like this, seeing him pour out his heart and talk openly about mental health. There is still definitely a huge stigma surrounding this and you would hope that men, as a result of this, may be more willing to talk.

I lost a member of my extended family to male suicide in January and one of the problems was that he just wouldn't speak openly. Such a waste of a fine man's life...

I doubt he would go on TV and pour his heart out if he didn't want too. I'm sure he set things that are off limits.

He seems a genuine and decent bloke. He's not at all like you'd think he would be when playing for the crazy gang and Leeds.

This may even 'help' him in his grief and recovery. He's been on loose women and GMB so clearly not bothered about talking in public about it.

Talking about loved ones you have lost of good for you, it will probably open a lot of doors for people to raise the subject.

For me when you talk about people you’ve lost, it helps you unearth your demons, at least that’s what happened to me

I sympathise with any one with mental health issues, but I have always seen Jones as a thug both on and off the pitch and he has traded on this to get his fame.
