As chosen by the fans. There’s a detailed video of how they reached a couple of designs through a consultation process with fans, which were then voted on. The final version is a bit meh, and looks odd with the lion facing the other way, although this was the way it faced on their first ever badge apparently.

I'll say it again, this design is very close to what we should replace ours with.

Not keen on the design of the lion, but others the colours and composition are spot on.

Well it's basically our old 86 badge isn't it. They should have the star for the European cup desperate from the badge like the Italians do.

Italians don’t have stars for winning in Europe.

However, from reading the article I absolutely love the detailed fan consultation process they used to help narrow down the options.

You're never going to please everyone but far better to do something like that and get the majority of the fans on board than randomly getting some punk to b@stardise a coat of arms from King Arthur's time without any fan input, eh Boro hierarchy?

It looks weird and I think that is just because the lion has been flipped. Wonder if they've done that to make it look a bit different from Chelsea's. It is very similar

As part of the consultation, the majority of fans said that they preferred the lion facing the other way as thats how it was on their first ever badge. It also comes across as looking forward and not backwards. I agree, it does look weird though, like Boro taxis.

I think if we’d have had a fan consultation that our badge would have ended up looking terrible.. ‘transporter bridge’ ‘a parmo’ ’roseberry topping’ ‘chubby brown’s hat’ ‘dog dirt’ ‘dead crabs’ etc etc

I actually think a badge showing a crab on top of the transporter bridge, wearing chubby browns hat and choking to death on a parmo that's been 'spiked' with dog dirt, whilst looking wistfully at Roseberry Topping in the distance would be a massive improvement on the abomination we have now.

Sounds like it would be more suited to the Middlesbrough council logo.. £500k and the commission is yours!

That design has been taken by another senior club so there'll be no reverting to it.
