Viktor Gyokeres is the left sided attacker

Gyokeres is the one player in the championship I would break the bank for. I think he's a PL quality player and I'm very surprised nobody has made him one yet. I don't think he'll get there with Coventry and he'll know that (and so will they). It's the sort of signing that will m pay for itself either through promotion or we'll recoup the cost when a PL club come calling.

Has ours? 🙂
No, it all depends what Gibson decides.
He could use the profit from player sales (Spence and Tavernier) to offset amortising a big fee for Gyokeres.
I would have done so in the summer and still would now.

If he is using the profit to offset the usual losses then that is his prerogative, but in my opinion a missed opportunity.
He was bold in January 2016 and it paid off. The loss made that promotion season was over £30m. This season will be nothing like that even with a big Gyokeres overall fee.

It hasn’t changed from when we were going to spend £10m+ on Larsen Strand.. plus rumours of outgoings
It was slightly tongue in cheek that comment.

I'm not sure that we are in the market for a player that will command such a high fee, plus salary, but I could be wrong.

It all comes down to whether the club thinks it will get a good return on the player, if and when he moves on and both Larsen and Gyorkores are players that fit that profile.

We were looking abroad.. but look how that turned out. There’s always the danger of arming a competitor in the championship with it being so tight. Gyokores will go into the summer with a year left on his contract and his value dwindling. O’Hare is out for the season with a bad knee injury.. it all adds up.

I wouldn’t have said so at the start of the season that we had any real chance. They didn’t want to sell and they didn’t have to. Everton’s interest has wained.. his value with Coventry has peaked.

Big stumbling block is that Gyokeres went to Coventry with a big sell-on clause.
Brighton aren't daft are they.
If it wasn't for this fact I reckon there's a good chance we'd have already signed him:(
Anyone know how big this clause is?

Say it's as high as 40%, you could see how Cov would be after £15m for themselves but this would mean a selling price of £21m

Clause
11 Victor Gyökeres £1m
22 Gustavo Hamer £10m

Plus Howson & Watmore..
