Hello can somebody please post a video of the goal that Mark Viduka scored at the Riverside where he got fed the ball behind his trailing leg as he was running in the box and somehow managed to bring it forward and score.

I can't remember who it was against but it was a quite incredible goal given the pass he was given. He was a master of ball control that man, thanks in advance (y)
 
YES that's the one, how he controlled that with his trailing leg I will never know! The replay from behind the goal shows it best
 
looking at the players playing in those games brings home how far we have fallen. Very sad. Will we ever rise to those heights again? So much has changed in football since.
I hope so but I can't see it.

The current crop of forwards we have would not have scored any of those goals.
 
Even compared against the likes of Slaven, JFH, Ravanelli, Yakubu and Boksic who came to our club, I still think he is the best striker we have ever had in our team.
 
It wasn't just the goals. His hold up play was incredible. He moved the play 20 yards upfield. I think that was what condemned us to relegation as much as the absence of a midfield.

You do wonder where he would fit in modern football. Players like him, sheringham, le tissier and bergkamp needed to play as a two. Negredo always struck me as a poor man's viduka, he would have been much more effective with a strike partner. It's a shame as I love watching these type of players.
