Very down.

I find relegation worse, we have failed to achieve promotion this season i.e. failed a positive. A bit like getting a grade B and you wanted a grade A.

I tend to fully get over after the Play off Final and the 2022/23 season is fully put to bed.

The bookies pre/season had us the finish 6th and we finished 4th so we out performed on that prediction.

The second half of the season was better than the first half which is promising for next season (if we can have the same or better quality squad).

The attacking play and goals from this season will not be forgotten quickly. I can't remember a season like it, when we had the attacking players fit we were almost unstoppable going forward, unfortunately the injuries to Ramsay, Forss, Howson, disrupted the attacking flow at the end.

For next season we have the base of a very good team. I would expect some of the better loan players to return as they all seemed to enjoy their time at the Boro and enjoy being managed by Michael Carrick. (as mentioned by B in D)

I expect season ticket sales to be around 22k so expect crowds higher than last season on average. I think early bird sales were up 15%.

The emergence of Hayden Hackney is a real unexpected boost and Josh Coburn will return a better player from his season loan.

The presence of what has happened this season will help attract new recruits. (as mentioned by B in D).

Enormous Parachute payments will make the sides with those payments favs to go up.

Leeds?
Leicester?
Soton
Watford
Norwich.

Don... I'll level with you, I'm actually worried about next season. This year was the year to do it.

We've got excellent teams coming up from league 1 and the possibility of some genuine power houses coming down from the prem.

Some of the best performers in our side are going back to their home clubs and you've got Chuba who could be now permanently an amazing No 10 or turn out to have had the best year of his career.

I mean, we've got Luton and Coventry in the final of the playoffs for the premier league. Coventry were bottom of the league when Carrick took over.

Let. That. Sink. In.
Yep. This was our chance... and we blew it. 😒

Harsh to say we blew our chance as after 17 games we'd have been happy to avoid League One.
We've made massive progress under Carrick and all this talk of bottling it, going backwards etc is a tad dramatic in reality.
All fair enough. Where we were after 17 league games doesn't really have anything to do with what I meant by 'blew it' though. Yes, amazing to get to where we got to (I appreciate that), BUT we had to win at home against Coventry and beat Luton to get to the Premier League. That is the chance I was talking about; and IMO we blew it. Who knows when we'll have a better shot at promotion than that.

Plus the fact that players will want to play for MC
I see us being favourites to go up tbh.

This is... Naively optimistic. 2 of Everton, Leeds and Leicester are coming down as well as Southampton.

I feel a long summer of delusion 'x y z is linked' then nothing for weeks before silence.

At the start of the season we weren't favourites we will 100% be in a weaker position comparatively 'on paper' to other clubs at the start of the next season.

I think because Wilder and the start people are forgetting how weak the champo has been this year. This was the chance. It will be apparent by October. I hope against all hope I'm wrong.

Both have proven to be ve

Both have proven to be very good sides though, certainly moreso than many bigger names in the league.
As we've seen over the seasons, ourselves included, reputation, financial clout and being a big name mean little in the Championship.

I would happily put money on two of the three relegated teams getting the top two next season. They're big flipping clubs with massive budgets ffs.

If Leeds, Southampton and Leicester were in the championship this season Coventry and Luton would not be in the playoff final it's that simple

I haven’t seen any reserve matches, but when Carrick was discussing Coulson’s break through season he said that he had seen a few others who may do the same.
Well that’s great news. Anyone got any names/profiles?

We had to beat the team that came one place below us and then beat the team one place above us. We'll probably get as good a shot as that again when we next reach the playoffs.

I was over it pretty quickly tbh, by the time I went to bed on Wednesday night in fact. Try to remain positive and optimistic. It’s done and we can’t change anything. We have one of the best young managers and our recruitment has been excellent the last year or so. I‘m not going to really think about what has happened, or what is to come, for the next few weeks but by the time the fixtures are announced I will start to get excited again. Plenty more important things in life, and regardless of whether we are playing Man City or Plymouth, we‘ll all be there supporting our team regardless.

I think back to February and march our peak, I could not believe what I was watching we hit a real peak. What Burnley didn’t even reach, 3/4 goals every week. The football was beautiful if we can equate that over a full season we’ll definitely go up.

I’m looking forward to next season already. I’ve had enough disappointments over the years to take this latest one fairly easily. We’re in good shape right now i think. We have a young promising manager who got the team playing some of the best football we’ve seen us play in years. Off the field we’re in much better shape financially with room to manoeuvre in the transfer market, and the recruitment team finally seem to be getting their act together. I’m not sure why some people think we can’t challenge again next season to be honest

Yeah so much for those lucky socks and other things that we cling to during moments of anguish and despair.

Regardless there’s always another chance of making the big time or maybe relegation! Let’s face it last season was such a roller coaster I was never convinced either way of what was going to be the final outcome.

However, after the dust has settled I’m of the opinion we’ll have more stability under Carrick, and through that more success.
