Very down.

Have swerved this place since the loss because i expected tbere to be mich wailing and gnashing of teeth. Wasn’t disappointed, get a grip - its football, there’s always another season to have a crack at it. We werent good enough and theres no arguing with that fact. Too much woe is me here because it didnt happen this year - people quit way too easy

We're in for another exciting season imo. We finally have a manager who plays attractive football and that in turn will attract quality players who want to play in his teams. This bodes well for the clubs' summer transfer targets, as well as attracting the calibre of loanees we witnessed this season. He's raised the bar. We won't see the likes of Connolly or Sprorar leading our line again. Not under Carrick!

Turn the clock back 12 months after the 1-4 defeat to Preston under Wilder. We're miles ahead of that now. As Carrick said, the foundations are in place, and I'm pretty sure he'll be backed in the summer by Gibson after seeing how far this manager took us. And Carrick will be using his contacts and influence to attract more quality loan players here to build an even stronger squad for next season.

The future is bright (y)

I’m over it now as well, my only problem is finding something more entertaining to do on a weekend than go shopping.

Need a project to keep me busy, if Carrick wants an extra scout, I’m available 👋🏻

Im into the stage of we will not go up next season and probably not for a few years more yet. Feeling pessimistic about advantage premier league teams with parachute payments have and the massive rebuild we have. Maybe losing chuba. I dont think all the long away trips will help our cause either... i mean plymouth, southampton, swansea, cardiff, bristol, ipswich, nowich, leicester *maybe. Hopefully cheer up when new exciting players arrive and fixtures come out.

That's a very good point regarding attracting better players. Players talk.....and we have had nothing but enormous praise from our loan players coming here.

Boro is surely miles more of an attractive proposition playing for Carrick rather than Wilder?

And you definitely have to think Carrick has better contacts in the game - Archer and Ramsey point to this.

👍

Danks recommended Archer and Ramsey.

Though I'm sure the stature of Carrick will have helped sell Boro to them.

Don... I'll level with you, I'm actually worried about next season. This year was the year to do it.

We've got excellent teams coming up from league 1 and the possibility of some genuine power houses coming down from the prem.

Some of the best performers in our side are going back to their home clubs and you've got Chuba who could be now permanently an amazing No 10 or turn out to have had the best year of his career.

I mean, we've got Luton and Coventry in the final of the playoffs for the premier league. Coventry were bottom of the league when Carrick took over.

Let. That. Sink. In.

Yup, same boat .

This was our best chance to go up in a very long time . We completely bottled it . Still feel **** about it . I hate this league and it’s F***ing utterly depressing being in when you’re just existing in it, like we do the majority of the time .

All the same people excited about a full season under Carrick , the form is turning . Like it did with wilder at the end . If it continues we could have yet another bad start to the season . Far too many parallels with wilder last year to go into the season optimistic . I do believe quite a few teams are sussing out now how Carrick plays

You did an excellent effort cheering him up - 👍

That is my fear @Boroboyyo I'm not saying he's been sussed but the warning signs are there.

There have been some dodgy team selections too.

Is it players losing the mojo after missing out on 2nd or is it a trend, the start of the season will give good indication.

I'm hoping for an excellent window with some positivity coming from that.

There is some proper delusion on the board regarding what's happened the past couple of months.

I don't think I'll ever get over it in terms of looking back and thinking "what a huge opportunity missed".

That said, its not out of the question that we improve as a team again next season. Coaching team will need to continue their positive work and well need to get recruitment spot on. As for the quality of the league, we can't control that. We could end up with a better side playing better football but finish lower.

The things we can control however, seem to be in the best place they've been for years..

**** me this thread makes you want to slit your throat.

This is a million miles from the Wilder situation. Nothing like it. We lost a knock out game. So what. Life goes on.

Bit extreme mate, suicidal thoughts aren't really something to joke about.

Regardless, of what happens next season you all have every reason to be happy, because you all have the character and strength of mind to support a team for the right reasons, be that it's your local team or another genuine connection to the club.
You could be a pitiable armchair fan, cheering on from the safety of your sofa, as Man City or Liverpool win another trophy, but your not. You are the real deal, someone who supports his team through thick and thin, incredible and abysmal. You'll be there at the start of next season, and when we are eventually successful it'll be all the sweeter because of the grind and the disappointments we've been through.

I said to my 10 year old son walking out of the ground, the lows make you appreciate the highs even more. This is a low and I'm still gutted we haven't at least got to the final but Coventry deserved it overall so fair play to them. Give me the Boro fan rollercoaster ride any day over a Man City/Newcastle situation where it's like a billionaires game of Championship manager.

If the likes of Everton/Leeds/Leicester came down then there's some big games to look forward to. We still have the Tees Wear derby too. In terms of the man in charge, we couldn't ask for better at this level. I don't think I've ever felt so positive about a Boro manager. Everything he says is spot on, he's a class act. Most of all he's a winner, you don't play at the top level throughout your career winning trophy after trophy unless you have a steely determination to succeed. You could see how much he was hurting in his post match interview the other night. I reckon Gibson will really back him and the recruitment team will have squad looking solid come the start of the new season.

Ye he shares this with other incredible managers like Roy Keane, Lampard, Rooney, Solskjaer... 😂

The form turned because of the load of injuries we got all at once.

We were still blowing teams away until as recently as April… Norwich 5-1, Hull 3-1.

Under Wilder, the form lasted about 2 months and that was it, pretty much ended after the Spurs cup game.

Last summer I was on the lowest ebb, that I have ever had whilst supporting boro over the last 50 years. The lack of transfer activity and woeful performance left me considering if I should transfer my allegiance to something closer to where I live.
The sacking of Wilder, with Leo taking temporary control and then the appointment of Carrick and his team began to restore my interest. The change in the teams mentality and performance restored my belief and support. I have enjoyed the campaign and positivity that has been created and the fact that we managed to get to the playoffs was a major success, the closeness to automatic qualification was unbelievable.
Yes, I was disappointed by the results this week, however when set against the journey that we have been on, I am enthusiastic to where we will be next season. I would rather us get promoted with a strong squad that may compete for a premiership survival, rather than what happened last year.
So for next season, we have a manager that will manage and support the players, drawing a performance from them. We play a good brand of football with lots of positivity, attacking flair and goals. We are now in a position where players will want to play for us, loan players will be interested in coming to us. We have a mangement team with contacts and have proved that they can recruit good players.
Am I still down, I was for five minutes but now looking forward to next season.
