That's the trouble with these early races, there's no way to know how riders are going. He may have just been riding very carefully like a lot of riders, and it did start raining again when he was on course. 6 riders crashed and nobody wants to knacker their season before it starts.

Very much enjoying the chaotic coverage of San Juan on Eurosport. Lots of guessing about riders, where they are on the road, what’s happening, etc. all not their fault. Plus some very shonky camera work. Good fun.
