Velogames 2022 - The VUELTA Open for Entries 🇪🇸🚴🏽‍♀️

I usually try to find some hidden gem, low cost points winners so that I can stack with a good mix of expensive picks. Largely gone mid-price this time and have left out some that would be considered "must haves". Mind you, there are far too many of those this year anyway. I'll no doubt shuffle the pack before the weekend mind.

My thinking is you have to pick 2 of the 3 must haves. That does limit other picks but there are so many possible gems this time. I think this is the hardest one to pick.

There are loads of great picks in the 6 to 14 point range this year. The sprinting department is a real conundrum too.

So all the usual questions are running though my mind: Do I pick an up and coming rider who seemingly has potential, or for the same price a tried and tested workhorse who is not going to get any better but should bring in a few points? What about if the tried and tested rider already has a grand tour in his legs this year? Arggh I only have 4 points left, but there is a specialist time trialer in there at 4 points - could he get a good finish in the early time trial and score some good GC points, or will he spend the entire tour as a water carrier? Is that 8 point rider I have chosen really any better than the 6 point rider, and could I use those 2 points to buy a more expensive sprinter? All my well laid put plans will undoubtedly go wrong, or maybe just maybe this is my year. Can I really afford that expensive favorite in my team. Is that old guy who used to be good worth the price?

I do like this game for the simple reason that without it I would not be pinning my hopes and scouring the results looking at some unknown 4 pointer that no one has ever heard of since they were their country's national U23 time trial champion, about 15 years ago.

Worth bearing in mind that, with covid on the rise at the moment, entire teams may have to withdraw ... so if you have 3 JUmbo riders for instance and they have to pull out, you are fecked.

Have you seen they've brought a new rule in that you can change up to 9 riders after the first rest day?
However any changes you make will only pick up Stage points and not GC/PC/KOM Points

This will mitigate the situation if you have withdrawn riders or hit by COVID as mentioned above.
Can also be used tactically

My team is now unrecognisable from two days ago. :ROFLMAO: Been shuffling the deckchairs all evening. Probably made it worse.

One last hoof. 2.45pm deadline today.

I believe the transfer addition is for a totally separate competition and does not count for our League result.

Yes I wondered that It does seem it is a different comp and league table rather than transfers for the main comp.

Had a last minute tinker this morning. You just know the riders that I've taken out are bound to take stages

Made my last tweak. After half a dozen tweaks this morning. Sagan or Wout was a big call. I think Sagan might do well this year. Two GC guys or three? Argh, it was hard to get a good mix.
