VAR farce

It's *****.
Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) Tweeted:
HT Tottenham 0-0 Man City

Mike Dean denies a penalty
VAR overturns him two minutes later
Gundogan's penalty is saved by Lloris
Brawl between players breaks out
VAR reviews potential second penalty on the rebound
VAR says no penalty!

A chaotic first half to say the least!

A strange few minutes. If sterling dives after the pen then why isn't he booked and sent off?

What if Spurs had scored in that two minutes between the tackle and the VAR decision?

It's not just football that needs to purge itself of stupid administration, the England ladies hockey team lost a match against Australia today despite leading 1-0 when a lightning storm caused an abandonment. Apparently the rules allowed awarding the victory to the Aussies because they won the first meeting and there was no provision to replay the match. These rules were agreed beforehand, but who the hell comes up with them in the first place?

Have you seen the one in Spain with Girona?

lad gets straight red and heads for dressing room. Var overturns red and issues a yellow. Massive carry on getting him back from dressing room. He walks on pitch and gets involved with opposition player and is given a second red 😂

I've just watched the MOD highlights of this

What an utter farce VAR has turned out to be and to continue with it, at least in its current form, is ridiculous. The application of the concept has been proven to be so flawed it cannot be redeemed

Total farce.

Sterling nearly breaks Ali's leg. VAR reviews and says its a Yellow. Any other player would have been off.
Sterling dives to try & win a penalty not booked.
As described by others VAR takes two minutes (whilst the game is ongoing) to decide (correctly) that the tackle on Sterling should have been a penalty. 2 minutes!!!!
Lloris is clearly of his line when the penalty is taken so it should have been retaken but VAR can't get involved in this.
Sterling dived again trying to get the rebound, VAR checks, clearly no penalty but again no action taken against Sterling.
The game actually stopped for 8 minutes due to Ali's injury treatment and the penalty fiasco but only 4 minutes additional time added.

VAR and tbh football in general is a joke these days, the game is ruined. I turned it off at half time, it's ridiculous.

Personally I think the worst VAR incident of the weekend was when they checked Glenn Murray's goal.
If they get decisions that lead to goals wrong I can accept it.
What I can't accept is being robbed of the joy of scoring a last minute winner, with the knowledge that while I'm jumping up and down, some bloke miles away is poring over the footage trying to find a reason to disallow it.

It baffles me that there are people who don't understand that. But then it baffles me that people spend the whole time recording something on their phone rather than living in the moment. Maybes it's the same people.
