Vandals Using Stained Glass Windows as Target Practice

Heartbreaking vandalism a #HeritageCrime in a tiny Lincolnshire village where historic stained glass windows of a church have been used as target practice. The decomissioned church was rescued by its community and placed under the care of The Church Conservation Trust who were giving it a second life as the centre of the village, then someone came along with an air rifle. At Easter.
The faces of saints and of Jesus Christ have been used for what can only be described as target practice at St Helen's, Little Cawthorpe in Lincolnshire and targeted the beautiful stained glass windows here..
The #HeritageCrime attack could cost in excess of £4,000 to conserve and repair the damage caused to the glass.

I think it is a heritage crime because it is a decommissioned church.
It is in effect a community centre, there are no longer services or a priest but people can still go and pray there. But is no longer a parish church.
Obviously the fact this happened at Easter somehow makes it seem nastier still but we are unlikely to be talking about someone making a religious statement they are just a selfish vandal with a gun.

Why would you do that? I mean seriously what sort of person gets a kick out of doing something like that

Someone who is angry at something and directs their anger elsewhere in the community out of a lack of awareness

Quite sad actually that the perpetrator is so angry at their world to want to do something like this
Welcome to Tory Britain

I think mindless vandalism has been around for a long time.

Correct but my point is these kind of incidents will be much more prevalent in future given the significant inequality that ‘your types’ prefer to ignore but nevertheless is going to get very much worse

I was brought up on a council estate I could have vandalised things because I was angry at the world around me - I chose not to- it’s about choices and you can never justify mindless violence, it’s about personal responsibility and knowing right from wrong.

We didn’t have or know inequality in those days, our dads had jobs and we had at least enough to make ends meet
Really poor effort to compare those times and the harsh reality of the now

You epitomise the hard right of throwing away the key on folk who already have nothing and hence don’t care
People like you are who society needs to be wary of and keep on a leash so the rest of us can build bridges and brighter futures for the many

We have had inequality since the dawn of time. There was very high unemployment in those days (the eighties) ,record unemployment from what I remember. So not a poor effort just a fact.

what you seem to be confusing is your personal vendetta against me and other Tories with right from wrong. Dont let that cloud your judgement - vandalism will always be wrong , any normal person would be outraged by it, so let’s not normalise or justify it.

finally you say I’m throwing away the key on those that have nothing - they had a community centre/youth club whatever the building is -yet they choose to vandalise it.

The eighties eh ? Where shall we start with the violence created by thatchers Britain in the eighties
Where were you ?
Miners strikes riots in London etc etc etc
All down to inequality
The seventies weren’t like this, there was mindless vandalism but nothing like today or the eighties
It is mindless but there is a reason for it
Of that there is no doubt and that’s where you flounder because you’ve obviously never been in a situation where by you have no hope or a lack of love or direction from a loved one

I’m not foundering I’m simply pointing out right from wrong - you seem to want to argue with the world and his dog and make everything political. I’m upset by the vandalism in the photo shown by the Op - let’s leave it at that because you are starting to make a fool out of yourself defending it!

No. You’re not getting away with that. It is mindless but I’m pointing out the underlying reasons that you don’t understand as your in the limited thinker bracket
Which is why I’m trying to help you expand you right wing approach 👍
