Vaccine Success. Let the good times return.

Also didn't Jeremy Vine get castigated in the press and possibly a legal case for bullying.. It's not surprising to be fair, he is a cyclist nut job.

Did he? I used to love his day time show on Radio 2 but this constant, second by second virus news is just too much. He almost sounds as if he's happy that he has a new angle on the virus. 'Oo, today we look at the news that the second wave is near... we have reporters in every time gauging the local mood.'!!

Don't worry, I'll be depressed again by Monday.
I suspect you will do whatever this crappy government tell you to do on Monday.. Lock down, go out, stay home, go out, but stay home, don't go on public transport unless absolutely you don't have too, don't see your family, but see strangers, wear a mask, but only when necessary, unless it's not necessary, then wear it anyway, if your eyes are dodgy drive to Barnard Castle, unless you are not able to then do it anyway and risk lives, but don't forget to save lives... Oh yeah and most important of all, STAY ALERT.

I've decided to live my life according to Dominic Cummings? So, basically I can do what I like, go where I like, say what I like and I know nothing will happen to me.

When I say me, I know, as a pleb that I'll be fined and jailed, but, you know...

Comrade Vronsky (it sounds russian) there isn't a cop on earth that will arrest and fine you under the current government legislation:

1. it is illegal in so many respects
2. Who the feck knows what is actually expected from us?

I haven't seen a policeman in... I don't know when. I know, I should do what I like. As I said on a previous post, my neighbours certainly do!

Good point re the bobbies. Could I be bold enough to suggest.. do what you can to keep you and your's safe, by extension you will be doing your bit to keep me safe.

Yup. I was brought up the right way. Respect, manners, the works and I will always do the right thing. Pity I'm in the minority but c'est la vie!

Volunteers is an interesting term to use. From what I have heard about this vaccine, it was largely tested on Russian soldiers. Volunteering might have been mandatory.
I do believe it is referred to as being 'voluntold'. Anyway the vaccine is called Chokinove and no one injected with it has ever died of coronavirus. If you don't like needles don't worry they can just smear it on your front door handle.

BTW isn't Disclose.tv a fake news site. I mean like actual fake news not Trumpian fake news which is actually the truth.

I'm finding it hard to differentiate these days...social media has destroyed any baseline we might have had - whether that was good or not.
Lets put it this way in fake science reporting it rates 'strong' (short of outright 'quackery') and in conspiracy theories full on 'tin foil hat'.

I might be more impressed if they had published the results of animal trials, plus phase 1, 2 & 3 randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled studies before declaring success.

If they have published such data, I'm not aware of it and a quick search doesn't turn up anything either. I'd also be concerned by the small number of participants - from the reports I've seen, the vaccine has been given to less than 100 people so far.

By contrast, reputable groups such as the Oxford team, have published full results of properly-conducted trials at each stage so far. In a couple of months (hopefully) results of their phase 3 trials should be available, by which time around 60,000 people will have taken their vaccine and we'll see where we are then.

Only phase 2 has been carried out with "100% antibody" success. They're considering going straight to vaccination without Phase 3.

See, that right there is where @SmallTown 's point about insufficient testing starts to apply. If you've only tested the vaccine on a hundred people or so, how do you discount the possibility of the side effect that only shows up in 1 in 10,000 people?

Plenty of conjecture here. Not enough evidence so Russia is guilty!
