As I said I'm surprised it hasn't featured more!It was on the bbc news website yesterday.
Yes I haven’t seen it anywhere else but at least it was on the BBC, you do wonder if some of the media outlets don’t want any signs of good news. I don’t think it is necessarily linked to Russia. As I said I'm surprised it hasn't featured more!

I agree about having a healthy scepticism (no pun intended) but there has been so much frightening and depressing reporting of this virus that I think it needs to be balanced with a bit of hope for the future. Thanks for clarifying that it had been more widely covered than I had noticed. To be fair, it was on the Guardian and Sky News websites too, and in the papers. I think people are probably quite rightly fairly sceptical about it without the trial data and full information to hand.
I certainly click on good news stories about Covid 19, I’m not sure that is the motivation.Good news doesn't promote website clicks or sell advertising slots on the TV

You should listen to Tim Vine instead!I agree with you HC. I hear and read SO much negativity and I need some balance. Listening to the Jeremy Vine show on Radio Two, one wonders if it's worth carrying on!

The sage documents even admit to stoking up fear using the media and people still lapped it up.I agree wholeheartedly regarding the media focus on the negative. We really have to go digging to find any hope amongst the news. I understand that they were probably encouraged to go hard and heavy at the start, as fear was very much the deliberate tool used to encourage compliance with social distancing, hand washing, preparation for lockdown etc. I understand that but the point for rebalancing the rhetoric came a fair while ago and yet they’ve continued highlighting the scary stuff above the hopeful.

I don't think it was needed to be honest. Scaring people to do something you want them to do is a savage way of going about things, especially in the year 2020.Fear was no doubt a useful, effective and arguably necessary tool at the start, and I personally didn’t have a problem with it being used as such.
Now it’s just stifling debate, stifling clear thinking and stifling progress and a rebalance is definitely required imo.
I’m not saying the scary stuff shouldn’t be reported, just that it needs to be more balanced.

The absolute majority of your posts are negative Michael are they not? Whether you are telling us about your unruly neighbours, your desire to flee the country, etc, etc.I agree with you HC. Then maybe I'm atypical but I actively search out good news and click on any optimistic articles I can find, while I often don't click on stories that look like they represent a more gloomy picture of things. I watch a lot of broadcast news and check a number of different statistical websites daily so I think I have a fairly rounded idea of what's going on, I don't feel the need to read in-depth articles about how bad things are as well.Good news doesn't promote website clicks or sell advertising slots on the TV
Boo! those nasty Ruskis! Its hardly good news for their population who are going to have to take a vaccine that doesnt look like its had any sort of testing.
