press release -

CUSTOMERS who visited Olivello restaurant in Middlesbrough on specific dates in August must self-isolate as a precaution.

The public health guidance is being issued to stop the spread of coronavirus in the area.

Anyone who was at Olivello on August 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th or 29th must self-isolate for a 14-day period from the date they were at the restaurant.

This means staying at home other than for medical reasons such as attending a test: do not go to work, school, or public areas, and do not use public transport or taxis.

You must not go outside even to buy food or other essentials, and any exercise must be taken within your home.

The instruction to isolate follows three positive tests linked to the Linthorpe Road restaurant.

Those who were at Olivello on August 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th or 29th should get a coronavirus test only if they display symptoms.

They must complete their full 14 days of self-isolation, even if they get a negative test result. This is because it can take time for symptoms to develop.

The symptoms of coronavirus are a high temperature, a new, continuous cough and a loss or change to taste or smell.

Anyone with symptoms can book a free test online or by calling 119. A mobile testing site will be at Newport Community Hub until Thursday. The permanent Middlehaven site is open from 8am-8pm daily.

Olivello management is co-operating fully with Middlesbrough Council and is taking responsible actions. A deep clean has taken place. The restaurant will be closed until Monday when the situation will be reviewed.

Attempts will be made to contact customers directly to provide the urgent self-isolation advice.

Anyone who requires further advice on coronavirus can contact NHS 111.

Well done rob (y) but people are sadly ignoring it as they feel they are ok. Some do not care that they may spread the virus sadly so long as they are safe themselves and can behave how they want to.

I live very close to this place. Yellow Rose on one side, Central Park and Olivellos on the other - things seem very close indeed.
The fact that they are making this appeal is surely also a warning to everyone to take track and trace very seriously.

I read the above story of a bar closed for not bothering with track and trace. Having read the quote "However, it is absolutely clear that the way the venue is currently being run presents a significant risk to public health and preventing further harm has to take priority." I was very surprised to read "Officers at the council will work with the venue to "implement a scenario where the premises can safely reopen".

Surely those displaying such a blatant disregard for public safety are not fit to hold a license at all.

I was in there on 25th !! Only now have I been informed. I have been going about my life as “normal” for 11 days since and now I have to self isolate for 3 days, not a very efficient track and trace !!

I presume they had your details. Why weren’t you contacted straight away?

Genuine question
3 tests for positive but if you were there on any of 5 days you just self isolate.
The only thing that comes to mind is one or more of those who tested positive was either a team member of visited more than once?

Did they take your details when you went in? If not they are not following track and trace procedures.

Close shave for us, I was in there with my wife and daughters for a family celebration on the 22nd. Funnily enough, we said to each other on the night that although the food was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful, nobody - and I'm talking about customers here - was really respecting social distancing at all.

They had my telephone number from when I made the booking, I got a text last night advising me to self isolate for 14 days from the night I dined there , which was 11 days ago

Me and The Wife are fine thanks, however she felt awful for a couple of days last week . If we had known then , she would of got tested ( pretty sure it wasn’t covid)
Just seems ridiculous that it took so long to identify the issue and inform people.

Glad you are ok
The science is interesting in relation to Track and Trace.
At the start (I think) it was based on
‘having been in close contact with someone who had Covid for a period of 15 mins or more’

Sounds like we have evolved our world beating T+T to ‘universe’ beating.....

August 25th - August 29th? Not very specific is it? There will have been hundreds going in during that period!
