Unusual Cover Versions

Ali Spagnola has a whole YouTube channel where she does covers in the style of another artist. The first part of the video breaks down the song before the full cover is played at the end of the video.

I've linked to the song below, but rewind and watch from the beginning too.

What if Lizzo's Truth Hurts was by Mumford & Sons? (ft. Nataly Dawn of Pomplamoose)

I didn't want to clutter the "Music" thread with whacky covers and I think that unusual cover versions deserve their own thread that can be ignored or enjoyed at the readers' discretion.

Warning: some may perceive heresy hereabouts!

I can't quite believe this has been posted. I have just spent a few days on the island of Koh Rong Sanloem, Cambodia. The place is a picture perfect, but the owners of my beach hut insisted on playing this cover version on loop about five times an hour. Drove me to insanity! 😂

If there’s one thing that gets on my t*ts it’s people slowing down 80s dance classics, stripping out the beat, and singing them acapella or with solo piano accompaniment. John Lewis and a few others do this every year for their Christmas advert. It’s boring now and been done to death.

Likewise, there’s nowt worse than someone speeding up a slow/acoustic number and trying to turn it into a “dance hit”.

One of my favourite albums Mick Ronsons debut one Slaughter on 10th Avenue.

Its full of cover versions really with the title of the album one of the best I've heard, I remember buying this in 1974 and playing it to death . I `ve never tire of listening to it. This track is a cover of the song that is synonymous with Elvis Presley Love Me Tender and Ronsons is much better imho.

If you haven heard this album, give it a go all the tracks are incredible and Ronson made Bowie famous by arranging his music not just playing guitar for him, shows on here too.
