Any Uke players on here?

I've had one a while but haven't done much more than learn a few strumming patterns and chords. I'm interested in learning some blues - anybody have any tips, starting points etc.

This lass is well worth checking out. Once did a gig in Edinburgh where she turned up and did an open floor spot. She was painfully shy until she picked up her uke and started playing. I couldn't believe what I was seeing/hearing and would happily have let her just stay on all night. The audience were absolutely blown away. Played the thing like it was a heavy metal guitar, hammering on the neck so fast you couldn't see what she was doing.

Wow! Incredible. I'll have a good look through her tutorial series. Many thanks for that!

Im in the same position... I got one for my 49th with the intention of learning to play it for my 50th... I find my fingers are too short and fat to make smooth transitions between chords... and i might be tone deaf too...

I bought a Concert Uke which is a bit bigger. I play a bit of Bass and the Soprano Uke just looked way too small.

Wow, Impressive.
Brought back memories of an old man playing bouzouki in a taverna in Sifnos.

Yes, I d*ck around a bit on guitar and keys and sometimes when people who don't really know about music say nice things, it'd be easy to start believing them. But it's when you see REAL musicians play that you go, "Ah yes - that's a proper musician, I just hack about for fun."

I'm sorry if my previous post sounded a bit harsh. I just can't hear the word ukulele without thinking about blokes called Tarquin on unicycles and wearing jesters hats being really irritating at festivals.

Ha! No offence taken at all, I've met a few of them - and anyway I don't play uke.

Yeah we use them all the time at school. Let me know what you want to know- C, F, G and Am will let you play a load of songs!

I play a bit of guitar myself mate but I'd never try to kid myself that I was any better than 'adequate'. My very obvious limitations never stopped me having a lot of fun gigging with bands in my younger days though. You don't need to be a virtuoso to do that.

You weren't the bloke on the unicycle were you? If you were then you really ought to take a long hard look at yourself and try to figure out where it all went wrong for you.
It was me! I've progressed to a two wheeler though now. Still have the jesters hat and adopted the full lycra skin suit (though I could do with losing a few kilos).
