Ugo Ehiogu Memorial

Great idea.

Does it have to be limited to Ugo? Could it include other players passing since the Riverside opened and be added to?

Following discussions with the Official supporters forum, it appears there may be some traction with creating a memorial to big Ugo.

This thread is to brainstorm ideas and suggestions of how best to commemorate him.

The initial suggestion was for a painted mural to be created either in and around the stadium. Somewhere public that would be a permanent reminder.

I had something like the following style in mind…however I have no idea about what picture to replicate etc so that’s open to discussion as well.

As a starter for 10, I’ve suggested the following locations…

Please feel free to make your suggestions for how you think we could best leave a lasting tribute to someone that died so young and gave us all some fantastic memories.
The wall under the bridge looks a great spot if lit up. But, as someone mentioned, the burger vans would need to move otherwise that wouldn’t be a fitting tribute.

The wall on the stadium is too small.

Joe Mercer memorial is interesting also because it is a two sided sign on the approach to the ground. Fans stream past it and some will no doubt touch it in passing for good luck. So, you don't have to put a memorial on a wall.
I think the club would go for this idea, then they can add more as they see fit around the ground.

I think any future boro murals and memorials should feature defeats of Derby, maybe with Gibbo pointing and laughing raucously.............

Great stuff Humpty, well done for setting the wheels in motion. Love the picture of him lifting the cup with Southgate

Just a suggestion, why not call the area where the Fan Zone bar is up to the Ayresome Park gates - The Ugo Ehiogu Memorial Square and perhaps erect a bronze bust of his head.

Could name block 4 after him and maybe some thing permanent on the flashing at the front of the west upper above that block

Paul Dews, Boro's Media Manager was delighted by this Humpty. He has been desperate for fans to come forward with thoughts and ideas of ways to customise the stadium and outside the stadium.

Are you aware of the unusual Joe Mercer mosaic sign outside Manchester City's ground?

I had mentioned on a previous thread a while back; how about painting the curbs around the ground red and white along with any crossing barriers, putting up some banners/flags across the fence at the back of the north stand blocking off the river?
