UD Almería scraped through to the play offs last night

We had a 2-1 squeaky bum time win last night. 2-0 up at half time. After having missed a first half penalty. Let a stupid goal in during the second half. Then just managed a 2-1 win.

Final round of matches is next Sunday. With the important ones all starting at at 21:00.

Espanyol and Mallorca guaranteed promotion.

We can end up being somewhere between 3rd and 6th. Depending on how the results go next Sunday.

The in form team guaranteed to be in the play-offs is Girona. With a 34 year old gentleman called Stuani in their squad. Currently in 5th place. Just behind us (4th). On the same number of points as us and Leganes (3rd).

The sixth team to be in the playoffs is between Rayo Vallecano and Sporting Gijón.

We are away at Sporting Gijón. So have a tough final match.

Just a quick mention of Málaga. They have managed to achieve mid-table mediocrity in difficult times.

I wonder if our owner will sack the manager he recently gave a 2 1/2 year contract to not very many matches ago. If we do not get promotion.

If he does, you could do worse than take Sergio Pellicer from us, who isn't renewing his contract - he's worked wonders

I love reading your accounts of your local teams progress or regress. I think it is fantastic that that you are both Boro fans living abroad, settled into the community, speak their language, follow their customs. I wonder who your children will support?

No kids for us. That is how we managed to move out here in our early 40s (missus) to mid 40s (me). Then not work too much after that.

I bet

how have the Real Madrid media notably MARCA taken it
To be honest I have not followed La Liga much.

Almería were in La Liga 2 when I became a season ticket holder not long ago.

Before that my wife's pension had not kicked in. We had sunshine, golf, fun and good friends. Just not that much spending money.

So I followed the Boro from afar. Almería is a recent passion. As I joined one of our best friends here as a season ticket holder here. He has had one for 5 years.

Been mainly regress for Malaga for the last couple of years ! ..... but it looks like we might finally have got rid of our dodgy Sheikh and his family, and as Spanishman says we've managed mid table mediocrity this year, which considering we very nearly didn't start the season is some achievement.

My eldest is in the UK and Boro mad, but in the good old days when he could visit (we haven't seen him for over a year) we'd arrange them for when Malaga were at home. My youngest isn't really an armchair fan, but absolutely loves going to live matches - both Malaga and Boro

Different lives for you and me.. No kids with first wife. With my second we decided to have no kids. So we could have a chance to reduce our working lives earlier.

We had a tough time financially due to the crisis a number of years ago. We have now reached the life we hoped for when we moved out here 16-17 years ago.

We have had a lot of fun time without too much money in the meantime.
