UAE Cycling Tour Cancelled

With two stages left as two of the Italian cyclists have tested positive for the virus.

Follows to ask what other sporting occasions coming up are under threat. Milan San Remo the first cycling monument has to be in doubt.

I don’t quite understand the Irish cancelling the Italy rugby match in Dublin but then announcing that the 5000 Italian supporters are still welcome to Dublin to enjoy their hospitality in bars and restaurants!

Going to be a real challenge between public health and ££££
Hence, I guess, the compromise from the Irish.

England v Italy, European games featuring Italian teams etc

I doubt the Giro can go ahead. Ditto Italy v England in the 6 nations.

I'm also perplexed by Ireland cancelling their 6 nations match. Should be safe as long as the Italian squad get tested

The Pope was seen coughing and sneezing at the Ash Wednesday Mass too.
I think it'd be wise to stop any international events for at least a month just so that the health organisations can get a better handle on the spread of the virus and then reassess.

Swiss have banned any gatherings over 1000 people.

Two month shutdowns of schools / businesses part of our contingency plans.

The Giro isn't until May, and so there's at another month or so to make that decision. The more pressing ones will be Milan San Remo & Strade Bianche and Mauro Vegni sounds pretty worried about them.

Be crazy if some of these races are cancelled given the only time they've typically not run previously is during the two world wars...

Hopefully Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and KBK can both go ahead this weekend.

"Hopefully Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and KBK can both go ahead this weekend."

Looks like they are both on thankfully, the start of season proper. Typical belgian weather expected too, wind and rain, so should be fun - if you're not riding.

Back onto serious stuff, has anybody seen Abel about on here or the other board?
Cycling season wouldn't be the same without his fmttm leagues.

Just seen a cheeky report in the headline ......

‘Chris Froome Tested for Coronovirus’

If it is positive he will hire a team of lawyers who will deliver a 160 page report after around 6 months

Nathan Haas on Radio 5 live now being interviewed is still in quarantine in the UAE. Nobody has tested positive in the Cofidis team. Great YouTube video of how he is keeping fit in his hotel confines.
