Yep, the average man in the street could have made better decisions at better times, than the woeful ones made by Johnson and his chums. I’m sure that when the dust settles and all the investigations start, lots of scientists will have stories about not being listened to and their warnings and suggested courses of action falling on deaf ears despite what the government have been telling us for months. The rumblings of discontent from SAGE scientists and others have been growing in the background for weeks now.

I remember thinking about Cheltenham been a crazy decision to go ahead from a point of view of stopping the virus spreading - I think football had been cancelled at the time and Cheltenham is bigger with people packed closer together and coming from all over the UK and Ireland. It possibly the biggest racing festival of the year and there are a lot of vested commercial interests for it to go on and money talks. The virus was probably being carried by 1 in 50 people? at the time, opposed to 1 in 400? now.
