Two keepers on the bench?

Pointless, might as well have put a young lad on the bench to give him a bit of experience. Our squad still looks weak as p!ss.

I know managers have done this at other clubs - is it to prove a point to the club, or was there a last minute injury?
But yes it would seem strange to do it if there were others (or youngsters) available

It’s defo to prove a point.. but how does that filter through into the squad?

No Coulson,Dijksteel or Payero in the squad.. suggests they might be off

McNair & Coburn in there despite strong rumours that they are leaving.

Barlaser was rumoured to be allowed to leave.. possibly on loan.

I assumed there was a late injury. Disappointed if not.
There’s usually a spare keeper and spare outfield player in the traveling squad just in case there are any illnesses or injurit’s.

I didn’t notice Coulson wasn’t on the bench today.

VDB had dislocated a finger

Dijksteel has been injured all Summer.

I would guess Payero and Coulson are leaving this week - although someone said Payero had a knock.

We were down to 17 fit outfield players that we were willing to include. Ridiculous at this time of the season. We should have 22 senior outfield players and another five younger outfielders available.

Pretty sure he could’ve sat on the bench and come on if needed with a dislocated finger.

I agree though, the squad is already looking paper thin. A couple more injuries and we’ll struggle to name a full quota of subs.

No point in putting a young lad on the bench who will never be used as a sub if that young lad had or has a game that they will actually play in.

Last season no one would have noticed as we weren't allowed nine on the bench.

Clubs do it all of the time to give young players a taste of being in the match day squad. Carrick has done it loads of times too.

Yes, they/we do it but my point is that if the U21 team has a game the lads play in that not sit on the bench or travel to Birmingham on the off chance of sitting on the bench.
