Due to the ongoing covid-19 crisis there will sadly be no Twisterella in 2020, but it's not all doom and gloom for Middlesbrough's award-winning multi-venue music festival. Hotly tipped emerging artists including The Howl & The Hum, Lauran Hibberd, Dream Nails, MarthaGunn and I See Rivers are among the first wave of critically acclaimed artists announced for next year's festival on Saturday 9th October 2021.

Dickens Inn extra venue?

Yes Lefty. We'd been planning on increasng the festival capacity this year with the addition of another stage upstairs in the Gold Room. That's still the plan but we'll just have to wait a bit longer for it to happen I guess. We were all set to announce the first wave of acts in mid-March but decided to hang fire for obvious reasons. At the time we were well on the way with the bookings and discussions with agents and acts but then everything came to a halt. When we made the decision to move everything lock, stock and barrel to 2021 we were pleased that a significant number of the acts who we'd already booked were keen to make the step with us. There's a few who couldn't commit for the moment due to changes in tour and release schedules and this has particularly impacted on the international acts who we had lined up. That said, we're thrilled with today's announcement and there will be many, many more acts to announce early in the new year.
In the meantime, I hope you and everyone else is well. Stay safe mate. UTB

Just last night I was saying not seeing live music was beginning to get difficult. Hopefully, as soon as the venues reopen and we are confident the second wave is avoided, there can be some line ups put together at short notice. It’s good we actually have a decent local music scene these days.

I imagine the international acts will have to wait and see the post brexit situation? In theory, based on what the Tories have said, there won’t be restrictions for people and equipment coming here, it will just be the No deal 3rd country status that disrupts the lucrative European tours that many of our bands rely on to survive to

Hope Dickens Inn gets some decent beer by then. Mind they never have since it opened so probably won't start now.
On a serious not so far line up looks good. Keep `em coming.
