Tui close to going bust? - A Rumour

So I've been informed by a reliable source in the aviation industry. Which is a pain as I'm supposed to be going on holiday with them next Wednesday.

I hope not, they've never let us down and always been great hotels/ drinks/ food when we've used them for long haul trips staying in the Sensatori's or Platinum's etc.

Shame. They have ridden out the worst that Covid dealt the holiday industry.

Firmly believe that the rumours are scare mongering. Analysts rates them stable after covid and signicant German support so Id be very surprised if they are anywhere near to collapsing.

If it was an anywhere near reliable source then there would already be a sell-off on their shares. Huge value for short-sellers with that sort of insider information being public.
This. If indeed there was the merest hint that they were in trouble there would be a market crash in their shares - which I cant see - and therefore I wouldn't start worrying too much if you are booked with them.

All airline shares are sliding. Lufthansa down 20% in the last 4 weeks. BA down 15%.

Everything's sliding, inflation/ recession/ bear market, could be a while before it picks back up.

TUI was a solid company before covid hit mind, and then could have done without Russia being knobheads, but they should pick back up, which is why I would expect if they hit any more trouble they should get another backer.

Never used them and never had a need to. Flights and AirBnB mean I don't need to stay with the riff raff :D :D :D

Depends whether you want to be protected by ATOL, and also have a larger company to complain too, if anything went wrong. I do loads of trips as flights and separate booking, but major holidays always go with a big agent.

I like TUI, they're reasonable on price, make it all very easy and you can have great confidence in knowing what you're going to get. In my experience they've been way better than any other holiday company.

I have absolutely nothing against package holiday companies. They take the hassle away and as you say ATOL protected.

The only advantage to booking direct with the airline is if they do cancel you go straight to the airline and certainly with the pandemic issues I got all my refunds pretty swiftly dealing direct. I also book direct using a credit card which offers you that consumer protection anyway.
