What kind of warped mind would even contemplate “ratings” at a time like this.

Does it really surprise you?
I said on another thread that he is getting unfettered access to the nation via his announcements. He's wired in such a way as he sees it as an endorsement rather than just a nation looking for leadership in times of crisis.
The 'man' is beyond despicable.

As usual he's responding to something said in the media. He'll be trying to trigger them I suppose - that's the usual ploy

Trump is a real paradox. Has nerves of steel and remains completely cool even when faced with a barrage of often highly insulting questions (as he is most days), and yet he can't stand if anyone says anything bad about him and watches TV religiously looking for comments and will then accuse journalists in press briefings. His life must be torture!

Biden is going to need a hell of a lot more than good ads. Likeable though he may be they can't let him be the candidate - sometimes he genuinely seems confused. I think he's just there to finish off Bernie Sanders, and then they'll choose someone else. Andrew Cuomo has been getting a lot of good press and seems capable. Either Trump or Cuomo has learned from the other that long press briefings are a great way to get air time.

Say what you like about him, he's got 8 0's on his bank balance and he's goes to bed with a 9.5/10 every night

Well his Easter timeline is gone and he's trying to spin a death toll of between 1 to 200,000 as a great victory in comparison to the couple of million that would have happened if they'd just ridden it out. This "riding it out" was apparently said by "some people", but there is no indication that anybody even remotely sane said as such.
He's trying to absolve his administrations lack of action and lack of preparedness already and as I said on another thread only last night, I am uncomfortable with anyone doing that.
I am very uncomfortable with talk of a low mortality rate being taken as a sign of a job well done at some point in the future.
Whatever the final death toll is, it will still be too many to be seen as any sort of victory.
The very best we can hope for is that we don't add unnecessary deaths to the total through our own inaction on a national level or by our irresponsible behaviour as individuals.
Quite stark how his stance has changed over the months where he could have done something to prevent a massive death toll.

No he doesn't to both comments.

Also daddy gave him the money. He's a cretin, a moron, appealing to other morons. A dangerous man who is now causing the deaths of hundreds of Americans.

How do people know he doesn't sleep with his wife? Plus he's worth 3 billion

He reckons the peak in America will be in two weeks time - sounds like böllox to me, but when you can lie, and talk utter utter shyte, and get still away with it I guess it doesn’t matter what you say 🤔

🐔

Balance of probabilities on the first one, but how do you know he's worth 3 billion - are you his accountant ?

You seem to have a little soft spot for him?
Wouldn't say a soft spot but you make that sound as if it would be a bad thing, I just don't think he's as bad as people make out, as for the 3 billion that's his net worth from Google.

An extract from the New Yorker

The first thing to note about Trump’s argument is that, despite his parting jibe, he didn’t challenge any of the specific figures in the Times story. They show that, between 1985 and 1989, a period when the economy was forging ahead and Trump was busy portraying himself as a billionaire with the Midas touch, his core businesses—apartment buildings, hotels, and casinos—somehow managed to lose $359.1 million. That was only the beginning. As the economy weakened, in 1990 and 1991, Trump’s core businesses racked up losses of $517.5 million. And, between 1992 and 1994, as the economy recovered, they lost another $286.9 million.

There's loads more where that came from.

Business genius my arras.

I was talking about Trump with some American friends who voted for him. They did so because of Roe vs Wade, which probably got him the presidency. They were fairly neutral about him but, like a lot of people, their view was the economy had done very well with him. (Ignoring that most of the improvement was in Obama's time.)

We got into a further conversation on immigration (legal and illegal); they had a far more right view than me, but then a third person got involved and they backed off as he was an ultra right wing racist - his views are not an insignificant minority!
