It is the sequel to Idiocracy but IRL. Has an empire ever fallen so quickly?1 in 5 Americans are illiterate. In the modern world it's the dumbest country and by some way.
Furthermore their top spot in science has gone too with China surpassing them, despite the ridiculous amounts that they spend on research.
That's what a lot of commentators are saying, but the regime is proving infuriatingly resilient. It is the sequel to Idiocracy but IRL. Has an empire ever fallen so quickly?
The western nations have to humour him for now but the ties are clearly breaking by the day.
Thin end of the wedge arguments are vacuous. If parents are supposed to be the sole arbiters of child protection issues, then the logic of that is that not only does the state have no right to interfere in the consumption of pornography it has no right to interfere in the participation in it. Excluding a few nut jobs in the 1980s, I don’t think anyone, anywhere, argues that. They will have opposed it for the same reason the left (and liberals) in the UK oppose it.
The responsibility for child access to pornography lies with parents. End of story.
Any law that relies on "won't you think of the children" is almost certainly (a) a bad law, and (b) a precursor for scope-creep into other civil liberties.
If you can point to where anyone is arguing for that then I'll happily agree.Arguing that the first amendment should be read with a view to preserving the right of parents if they wish to let their kids see pornography is as preposterous as the most deranged arguments I have ever read about the second amendment
I see the Senate has just passed the Big Beautiful Bill thanks to Lisa Murkowski of Alaska folding under pressure.
You'd hope even the thickest Americans will see the harm this will do and vote the GOP out of power in the midterms.
Sadly, I think they might just stick with being partisan despite suffering
