No that’s the pretence of its existenceIt's not designed to make the public defer to the Royals.
It's designed to allow the Sovereign to present the new Colours to whichever Regiment of guards

It is, my point was that people are struggling, by design, by this government correct, but seeing another royal event hoovering out taxes for negligible value is galling when we’re all having difficult times. I shudder to think the total cost of royal events over the last 5 years on our tax…ok it’s not THE most wasteful thing, but it’s many billions in my lifetimeThat money could be used for a thousand things, if you had said the NHS, I wouldn't have mentioned it but the increase of foodbank is not down to the Royals, it is down to the Tories and you know that.
If you asked another European to describe Britain, do you think they would mention science, music, theatre, art, fashion, poetry engineering, astrophysics etc or the Royal Family?Isn’t Britishness at its best our achievements in science, music, theatre, art, fashion, poetry engineering, astrophysics etc?

They’d probably mention oasis or David Beckham to be honest. We don’t need a state sponsored celebrity cultureIf you asked another European to describe Britain, do you think they would mention science, music, theatre, art, fashion, poetry engineering, astrophysics etc or the Royal Family?
Cementing the royals as some sort of patron. Elected heads of state have long running relations with the armed forces around the world. Giving themselves medals and playing dress up to watch paradesIt's a military parade
Tax mate, that’s very different to personal spendingWell after the usual FMTTM debate, all I’m gonna say is….
I enjoy watching things like this.. I know they mask the real troubles we have in the country but often that’s why they’re so needed…
If we didn’t have them, I am almost certain the money saved would not be used to make the average joes life better…
I mean, you could say that the money spent on football would be better spent on removing the need for food banks when instead it’s used to make the players and the investors richer
"Surely you must know that they are nothing to do with military service as she's never served in the Armed Forces other than in an Honorary capacity."Surely you must know that they are nothing to do with military service as she's never served in the Armed Forces other nly rrent royals I can think of who have earned their medals are Prince Andrew, Prince Harry, Prince Michael of Kent and the Duke of Kent
I don’t think xxl meant what you and I spend to watch the Boro, more what owners and sponsors put in…Tax mate, that’s very different to personal spending
Yes, I knowTax mate, that’s very different to personal spending
One is a personal decision and the other a business decision, still not really relevant to a governmental decision to fund this family, the rest of us have had to cut our cloth the last 5 years. Councils and government departments have had massive reductions in budget. Yet the government have spent more than ever on themI don’t think xxl meant what you and I spend to watch the Boro, more what owners and sponsors put in…
I thought you might like that picture. One is a personal decision and the other a business decision, still not really relevant to a governmental decision to fund this family, the rest of us have had to cut our cloth the last 5 years. Absolutely this, any chance to have a dig at the royal family though. If we didn't have a Royal family, and were a Republic, would all our previous military history just be forgotten, and all military parades would just stop?
Republics such as Germany, France, Italy, Greece etc all still have them.
There'd still be a Trooping Of The Colour.
There'd be a National Day celebrations and parades.
You wouldn't get rid of it. The President would just do what the Royal family does now.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Yes they’ve cut everything….except royal funding, which has increasedI thought you might like that picture.
Regarding council cuts, this government would have made them even if we didn't have a Royal family. Isn't it something like £1.60 per year per tax payer we pay for their protection?
Not quite the same as the old boss as you can vote them outIf we didn't have a Royal family, and were a Republic, would all our previous military history just be forgotten, and all military parades would just stop?
