Trini Lopez, The Inspiration for “Come on Boro”

Never really thought that the intro to that song was the notes to Come on Boro but can see it. Over the years the Come on Boro chant has changed in tone.
 
Ha I remember the song but not so much Trini. RIP signor. He was one of the Dirty Dozen actors I see. He played a character called Pedro Jiminez.

Not trying to doubt you but do you have a source for that? Ive just read his official obituary and it doesnt mention that. In fact it says he played the “notable character Pablo Jimenez” in the movie.
 
He's in the first half and does all the training, but doesn't go on the assassination mission. I don't think the "The Dirty Eleven" would have been as successful a film. If memory serves his music sprang to success during filming and he demanded more money, which the producers weren't willing to pay so he left. I might be wrong about that.

“In 1966, Lopez was cast in The Dirty Dozen, a film about rogue soldiers being sent on a suicide mission during World War Two.
But he clashed with director Robert Aldrich and was written out of the film. His character, Pedro Jiminez, dies off-screen after a parachute jump.“

We have always referred to our neighbour as Trini because most days he goes in and bangs away in his shed. True.
 
He had a signature Gibson guitar, the Trini Lopez! Like a 335 except for the diamond shaped F-holes and horrible headstock! The 60's era models are highly sought after and used by Dave Grohl and Noel's mate Gem etc

He still appeared in the film though didn’t he? I read that The script changed and his character was killed off. The death was off camera. I’ll have to watch the film to get the right answer. E
