we probably actually need a left winger more than anything. If giles gets injured then we might decide to attack down the right and the lb slot into the back 3.

I reckon if giles was injured we would play djksteel over smith

Right back - Tommy Smith has been solid and his leadership is invaluable. I think Dijksteel is more of a Center Back so a new back up/prospect to play right back is needed

Center Midfielder x2 - Jonny Howson replacement + Hayden Hackney competition

Winger - Possibly kill two birds with one stone and get someone who can play both sides. Jones needs that competition to

Striker - This one's a maybe if we end up terminating the Loan of Rodrigo Muniz

Or bring in Bola and switch Jones to RB. That way they could do the thing where Smith rolls left as a third CB to let Giles go forward but the other way round.

Yup….festa. I genuinely think Carrick believes a certain number of on field leaders are a necessity and Smith is much more of a leader than McNair is which is why he is in there. Playing ok or well enough but leadership/motivation is also really important !

Honestly not bothered if we don't sign anyone stick with what we have keep the momentum and team spirit maybe if we can one or two in which actually improve us then fair enough. But I would be cautious especially after last few January windows have been pretty poor for us although McGree turned out to be a decent buy last January

Both captains at previous clubs, and not the quiet type like Howson is. I like a shouty captain. Certainly would be looking at Lenihan as our captain elect
