Is it practical, feasible, we’re both retired and were considering selling one private and trading in the other to up grade. Could we be better of trading in both for one ? Any one done this?

When I started working where I am now we got rid of my car privately.and traded in the wife's. We didn't need two cars anymore as I walk to work now. Granted the car I had wouldn't have made a difference to any sort of deal trading it in because of its age and condition so sold it privately.

It can be done but have a look at the deal you are offered, the dealer will almost certainly be making money by reducing what you get for the two cars, put the cars through "We Buy Any Car" and look at what they go for on Autotrader (take 20% off for Dealer mark up and warranties) and judge whether it is worth the saving in time and hassle against selling the car privately which can be a right pain in the posterior with time wasters and people trying to knock you down to a pittance.

September 2019 my job was at risk and partners lease car was coming to the no fee surrender point and as it had several expensive services coming up we decided to go to one car.

I got a new job but we decided to see how far we could make it go, it was annoying at first as I was dropping her off and then driving to newcastle each day, but now back to working from home again permanently. She was paying £340 a month for the lease and her own insurance; now I am a names driver on her insurance and my car is long-since since finance free so we’ve put all that extra outlay towards hoke improvements

I think if we could make it work and we both work full time, almost anyone can with a bit of work
