Tour de France (Contains Spoilers) 🚴🏼‍♀️🇫🇷

Did he do a lot wrong though?
If you look at the barriers they were approaching a little step in them which was actually narrowing the gap if WvA stayed on his trajectory, all Sagan did was nudge him a little to maintain the gap.

Should definitely be demoted for that. Leant right into Van Aert. Almost sent him straight into Bennet. Could have caused a bad accident there. The gao wasn't there and he tried to force one.

Van Aert is incredible.

Official fantasy loints suggest Sagan has lost his place. Has anything been officially announced?

Sounds like Sagan was a bit touchy after the disq
He and the team ought to show a bit more humility.
It was dangerous and one of the best cyclists in the world could have taken a nasty tumble at high speed. WVA didn’t mince his words.

Good interview from WVA. Sticks up for himself well.
As if the journalist tried to make an excuse for Sagan because he is a good bike handler. Embarrasing.

Yes - I saw that interview. WVA was very good.
On the plus side - good to see Sagan do a brilliant sprint, should be fun today

I accept it could have had consequences, but if Sagan hadn't made room for himself we could be talking about a very different incident.
I'm 100% behind making the sprints as safe as possible for the riders, but you have to allow the riders to race and I'll guarantee that you'll see incidents like that pass without sanction.

I love Sagan as a rider, but he has form on this having already been disqualified from the Tour for effectively ending Cavendish's career. Sometimes a sprinter has to accept that if there isn't a gap then you just have to accept it and go another day. It happens all the time as you'll know the familiar refrain "I was boxed in".

There are many professional cyclists with the will to win and the financial rewards now available the idea of not going for it is alien. To Sagan, Groenewegen and even Cav who ended Simon Gerrans Tour on Day 1 in Harrogate.

This.

If you are "boxed in" you surely do not have the right to create yourself room by barging another rider out of the way. I love watching Sagan but after that high profile sprint crash earlier in the year in Poland, officials are rightly going to be more punitive of such moves.

But that’s the problem. Sagan has probably just two more chances left. Stage 19 and 21. Now he’s got 6 stages of survival ahead just to get to his next chance. He is a pure racer and whilst I don’t condone dangerous riding I feel it is as Abel says in their instinct to win. And Cav was no saint when it came to finding gaps.

All you say is true, but it doesn't make it right.

I’d agree it is a sprinters instinct. Have to accept tho he put another sprinter at risk

He's got a chance today and again on Saturday depending on how the stages pan out. If Bora ride for him he could win today. He can cope with these climbs when hes at his best. Might even see him try and get in a breakaway.

Buchmann is so far behind in GC and has no chance of mounting any kind of challenge so efforts will be focused on Sagan green jersey and potentially Kamna stage win

Personly think the climb today is too hard for Sagan. His teammate Schachmann if he is fit would be a better option for Bora.
