Tory MPs

t's quite clear that the current crop of Tory MPs are more degenerate than has normally been the case.

They were chosen because they are rabid Brexiteers and were prepared to sell their souls to the devil to ride on the oaf's bandwagon. Now that they have to make a decision, they reveal they haven't got a collective backbone between them to act even whilst staring at poll after poll telling them they have to remove him...

They are craven cowards who lucked out when they got elected thanks to the oaf's dishonest campaign and are now facing the consequences...

I don’t think the country will forget this one.
We have our trump
We have a dictator who understands the nuances of the constitution and lack of hereto….and how to trample over it to serve him own ambitions and allow the Conservative party to salvitate over someone who delivered a majority following a pack of lies promised.

I wouldn't give him that much credit. I don't think he does understand the nuances of the constitution.

Cummings did and Johnson, like a chimp who's been shown how to pull a lever to get a banana, just keeps repeating the trick of doing whatever the hell he wants and telling as many lies as he wants, without the faintest idea of why it works.

The thing is ; these Tory mps know there’s no one like Johnson who (they think) woo voters and win elections.
The Tory mps are now a majority of rabid brexiteers
Brexit that is unraveling as we thought it would.
If Johnson goes then another brexiteer appointed pm would be a disaster for them and they it.

Appointing a remainer pm is also a disaster for Northern Ireland and promoting the benefits of brexit (lying to the nation continually) etc etc
This underpins why the tories probably won’t get rid of him - they are terrified of the Conservative party imploding back into itself in the vacuum left by Johnson’s axing and back towards a remain stance with regard to the EU.

The tories are stuck between a rock and a hard place realising there best chance of winning the next election is the follow this utter cretin .

From the few vox pops I've seen this evening there are plenty of Tory voters out there who are more than willing to forgive Johnson. I just don't see enough of a vote swing for them to lose the next election while they have certain sections of the media behind them.
There isn't any shred of decency or integrity left amongst the Tories and this current shower and their successors will be allowed to rape the public purse and destroy this country on the altar of Brexit until it becomes impossible for anyone to deny what is going on. By then it might be too late.
There was a piece on Look North tonight of a mother who kissed her terminally ill daughter goodbye through a mask and her two sons who were unable to even visit their sister as she passed away. They were rightly enraged by Johnson's mealy mouthed apology and the feeble excuses he tried to offer about it being his duty as a leader to attend leaving parties for his colleagues. How anyone can watch things like that and then say we should move on or there are more important issues to attend to, as many Tory voters are doing, well it frankly sickens me.
That this self entitled sack of shíté thinks he's above the law is bad enough, but for large portions of the population to think that it's ok to not only behave in the way he has, but to suffer no consequences for it either leaves me cold inside.

“All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”

Or to put it Nelson Mandela’s way:
“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”

and this is where the vast majority of the Tory party stand right now. They are making a deal with the devil. Can’t they see that the daft twât will screw it up again and again before the next election and the point at which they can ditch him and save their sorry, mercenary, skins will have passed.

Although I appreciate Dom keeping us updated on his former Bosses antics Cummings will have a lot to answer for historically as our economy slowly gets sneezed by the neck of the EU as time passes.

More Tory MPs today are calling for Johnson to go.

Must be killing them having to "do the right thing" (albeit in most cases through gritted teeth).

Can almost admire the discipline to continue putting the party first no matter how morally repugnant doing so becomes. Don't get me wrong, they're poor excuses for human beings, but that discipline goes a long way towards why they're so good at hanging onto power regardless of how **** a job they're actually doing.

Some sources reckon there's about 50 letters in now, so not far off. You never know..........

I'm not sure they are "rabid Brexiteers" - most of the new intake seem almost completely devoid of any political beliefs. They simply saw an opportunity for power and rode it out.

There are very few intellectual powerhouses on that side of the house.

The new Teesside intake particularly strikes as me opportunists, completely void of any morals who have grasped the opportunity to make a quick buck (I imagine few of them were earning more in the private sector).

Johnson's personal approval rating has hovered around 35% in the last few weeks. Admittedly, this is pre-Grey report, which might knock a few more off. However, I suspect those who still back him do so blindly and passionately. It still represents a fairly strong base on which to build for the next election.

If I agree with anything the PM says, it is that it is time to move on from partygate. However, to do this, I think we have to move on from Johnson.
