Tory leadership down to 3 candidates

I have made this point a couple of times, but it probably bears mentioning again. It isn't good for society in a FPTP system to have a malfunctioning opposition. Whether you agree with the oppositions political position or not, they represent people who would vote for them in an upcoming election and it is good for the country.

I can't see Badenoch winning the party vote, she's black, though I may be wrong. No matter, whether it's Jenrick or Badenoch leading the party, you can't see them lasting until the next election. In fact, any by-elections triggered by the leadership contest winner, may be enough to see them off.

I’d ordinarily agree with you about a functioning opposition is good for democracy in a fptp system however, the print and tv media are very right wing biased in this country with zero common sense reporting anymore therefore I’m happy to watch those rats fight because them and their policies and ideals are dangerous for the future of the country

This completely. A strong opposition would be fine in a fair fight. The misinformation and bias as so heavily stacked against Labour though we need the Tories to tear themselves apart for even a chance of keeping them out for more than one term. It’s relentless already and we are nearly five years away from an election

Exactly, no problem if it’s a fair fight but as small town says, the media are trying to pummel labour from day one with misinformation and lies….
Long may the Tories rip each other apart fighting over the dangerous siht they spawn and lie to the public about how they will decimate public services by stealth and tell everyone it’s something else…

Aye, a strong competent opposition is desirable, but it's probably amongst the least of the problems when it comes to what's wrong with politics in this country (and to be fair many other countries).

The current state of the tories is more of a symptom than a cause.
