Tory cuts in the North

The people will blame the councils not the national government and if anyone does try to point the finger at the government then ministers will be lined up to accuse councils of ineffiiciency and waste.

Always the same. Look at the outrage about the increases in council tax.

People blame the local council and forget the 90% (almost 100's of millions) of funding per annum that has been lost from central government since 2010.

Yep, first thing you see on the gazette about council tax rises is "snouts in the trough" etc. Stockton council down something like £74m since 2010 - they could have built the Hilton and the globe a couple of times over every year and had change.

Lets see what happens.

If he cheats us, he will lose all of his gains.

And don't try and spin it, contrary to opinion, we're not stupid. We will know!

This is the start of a very tough 5 years for the disadvantaged in the society in the UK. The gap between rich and poor will only get bigger.

He won’t need all of his gains from the (normally labour voting) idiots, the boundary changes do that. We need electoral reform.

Yep. With this majority the tories will push through the boundary changes. To give themselves an advantage next time.

The boundary changes are driven by 2 items:
1) A reduction in the number of MP's down to 600, driven by the expenses scandal where thieving MP's were fiddling their expenses (personally I think 500 MP's would be too many). - Or are the they now trying to bin this reduction?
2) People moving around means that periodically constituencies need to be changed so that the number of voters is reasonably equal in all, so that all individual votes have an equal weight.

That's a case for proportional representation rather than a mess of FPTP where the majority of people in this country are not represented by the government.

Only that's not true. That's the ostensible reason, but really they just want to gerrymander the districts so they're guaranteed to win. The only way to give votes equal weight is with proportional representation. The next thing they'll be after is photo ID to vote.....

It will still result in more seats for the Tories most likely
