I have been advocating this to Labour for years without even a reply. In fact I have been suggesting that DVLA should be banned from giving personal information to private companies without permission. Let the parking companies do their own dirty work.

Tbf I agree with this policy. But, to me, its kind of like being a Ukrainian in South Ukraine and learning that the Russians are improving their pot holes. I agree with them doing it, but it hardly detracts from all the horrible things they are doing

I said immediately after the by-election win fought on ULEZ that the Tories would go down this route and I was right.
Drivers are a huge proportion of the electorate and as anyone who spends any time behind the wheel will know, appealling to the selfishness of the driving population will be a vote winner.
While I've no issue with making appeals to fines easier, it'd never have been on the agenda if the Tories weren't so unpopular. Much easier to do than making a proper public transport system that'd negate parking, emissions and a lot of other issues.
